Howie Day's "Collide"

Unread post by GreedylilPig » Fri Sep 30, 2005 2:44 pm

I know there's been quite a few covers of this song and I fear many have gotten tired of hearing this one, but felt I'd post it because I think despite its over-exposure, it's a damn fine tune. Any critiques/comments appreciated.

A sidenote: this is the first song I've recorded with my newest guitar, a Larivee.

hey man... sounds fantastic. i really like the job you did. it sounds a little slower than howie's version, but it definitely works well.

PS, the larivee has a great ring to it!

I enjoyed your version of "I was Just thinking" much more, it made it on my Mp3 playlist. I let all my buddies listen to it. I don't think with version will make my MP3 playlist, but I do love your voice.

Do you have any Origionals?

Thanks for the comments thus far. Much appreciated.

Yes, I have a few. However, I tend to shy away from posting them because I think they may be somewhat boring. That is, there are not a lot of intricate guitar riffs throughout my songs. Very Ryan Adams-esque... slow, simple, introspective. Close friends tell me they can see the James Taylor influence in my picking style. Anyway, the songs are more for personal enjoyment. I really don't think others would get much out of them; otherwise I'd share.

I don't care for this song, but I think you did a great job covering it. And I think your voice has a James Taylorish sound to it.
