how to improve your vocals
how to improve your vocals
i can currently play pretty much every Dave song out there.. pretty well. But i have a little problem where i am not exactly the greatest singer in the world. I mean.. i can manage on songs like The Stone.. but Two Step.. forget about it. if anyone can help me or point out a few sites where maybe i can get a little help.
practice practice practice. a friend told me a long time ago, sing shit you can't sing. like stuff that's too high for you. eventually, you'll get it. that's what i've been doing. also, do warmups before singing. those things you learn in chorus...the bumble bee thing and if you don't know what i'm talking about, just sing notes in a scale and keep going up and up and up until you get to how high you can go. that'll help.
edit: something else i like to do is sing in my car. cause you can sing as loud as you want and no one will ever hear you. that'll help your volume.

DON'T TRY TO IMPROVE YOUR VOICE WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING A PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!
Of course practice is a necessary thing for improving your voice, but DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT start practicing without first getting some consultation or lessons from a professional teacher! If you don't know how to properly exercise your voice, you could be doing permanent damage to your vocal cords.
Learn how to practice and exercise your voice FIRST, then get on a regular practice schedule.

What does a vocal coach teach you? I've thought about seeing one, but I didn't think it would be worth my time.....If I have bad singing habits, then I've had them for years, & it's probably to late to change anything. Right?fatjack wrote:DON'T TRY TO IMPROVE YOUR VOICE WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING A PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!

You can get by just fine without a vocal coach. The most important thing that they will tell you is to get your airflow from your gut and not your chest.
For example, put your hand on your gut and now do this: sssss ssssssss sssssssss (like a snake) Feel that? That's where your airflow should be coming from and that's what should be moving when you're singing, not your rib cage.
