Full #34 Cover

Unread post by dmbguitar718 » Thu Aug 18, 2005 7:29 pm

Here's the full thing. Not exactly how I would have liked it to turn out, but I think it's alright. There are some things that I'll probably go back and fix later.

Enjoy.

#34

I just realized, I haven't posted anything in here in a long time.

I'm playing it a bit different actually though. I have a capo on the second fret, so sliding isn't really an option. :P It's an open string with the capo.

Mixing flaws? I thought it was a great mix. I thought it was the best I have heard on here. I really liked it dmbguitar718. Do you have anymore?

WOW. Sorry everyone. It was actually my fault. I should never have attacked anyones opinion. It was totally my fault. In my years one thing I have learned is that it is not about me, but the crowd... so everyones opinion counts. What I was really trying to say was the quality was awesome! Compared to everything else I have heard on the board the quality of that recording was great. Now, I would have mixed it different, of-course...but, it's not my mix. Their is no difference between an artist painting on a canvas and a person behind a mixing console, or computer. It is his interpretation of his music; my comment ealier was more directed toward the quality... not so much the mix it's self. I'm am sorry. I'm not offended in any way; first it was my fault, and second- I deal with assholes on a daily basis. No worries.

Jesus man, you're awesome. How mature of you. Don't put this on you, you didn't cause anything.

Do you have any advice on mixing? I didn't really mix this "artistically" so-to-speak. I'd like to know a bit more about it, and you seem to know a hell of a lot more. :)

Oh No...I think i'm started to get addicted. I can just picture myself at shows with my labtop open replying to the board. Do you mind if I call you Pat?... well anyways I went to your site and listened to the rest of your songs, NICE! I saw that you are using protools. What kind of stuff are you using live?

Call me Pat, not a problem. :) I don't play live yet, although I really want to get into that scene (I'm still young). What kind of shows do you work at?

I'm still really young. I'll tell you this, age really doesn't matter... if you are good you are good, and people will listen. If I was mixing you, live, I would throw a Beta 58 on your vocals. Maybe take out a little 2.5 or 3.1K.... take out a little 800 or 1K.... and put in a little 250. So, go out get a mic and a DI (Whirlwind, Rapco, BSS) and start playing. If you don't get out there you will never get heard. so, GET OUT THERE!! One day, I might be working for you, that would be really fun!
I work for two production companies. Some of our shows in the past weeks.... America, Stevie Nicks... I'm totally blank right now. Oh, we did Bela Fleck and his Trio. But, names aren't important. Just because you work on big shows doesn't mean you are a good engineer. I have met people who mix in little night clubs that put me to shame. But, that stuff doesn't matter. GET OUT THERE AND PLAY!
