First off, I should say, I'm going to take singing lessons next week. With that said, here's my cover of Dispatch. It's definitely not polished by any means, the guitar is rough in some spots. I pretty much know my voice is all over the place, since my covers have been flamed before, so let me know if you hear anything positive.
Here it is... let me know what you think! Be honest!

Damn, that song has a lot of words really fast. Guitar is ok, yeah, rough in some spots. You're voice has potential. I think the lessons will do you good. Keep in mind though that your instructor (if he/she is good) will probably want you singing songs that have less words to hold notes. Also, make sure the instructor has a good rep.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

My teacher is an old chorus teacher. I had her 5 years ago, and she's offered to teach me on her own time which is extremely nice of her.

Guitar is good overall, but the intro and the "jam" part or whatever you want to call it could both use a little work. The intro starts out perfectly, but when you go to the second part of picking, the section after the Bb and F chords, it goes downhill. I'm not sure exactly what is going on, but it almost sounds like a skipping CD, I think you may be adding some notes in there. Keep working at it.
I agree with GreyBlueAnt, in that your voice has potential, you just need to keep working at it. It was flat at parts.
