so, i have this idea.
yep. this is just a live take, nothing added or touched up afterwards. 95% percent of the stuff I'm singing is random consanants and vowels, the other 5% are words that popped in my end while singing.
Anyway, lemme know what you know. i've never really written a strummed/sung song before.

ha. i'm really eager to play this with a drummer from my school. I have all these different parts worked out for it. i'm seriously thinking about buying some studio time too.
also, i've changed this a bit since i posted it. i have some cleaner vocals and a better bridgish part.
i showed it to one of my friends, and he said "this sounds exactly like one sweet world!" i really cannot hear the resemblance. But only because I was forced too. I made sure i wasn't ripping off any dmb song.
but does this strike you as a OSW ripoff? I honestly was baffled when he said that.
but yeah, thanks.

well...its similar to OSW in that there is a similar sounding slide, and it goes back similarly in terms of loudness.....and i can hear the dave influence. but i wouldnt say its a OSW ripoff, nor would i say the dave influence takes away from its goodness(for lack of a better word).
and im not even sure i would buy studio time...just get together with him, and maybe another guitarist and bassist or whatever setup you like, maybe keys and such...and just jam a few times, get a couple of gigs...if its anything like the things ive heard you record, surrounded by good MUSICIANS, youll be a hit.

I completley agree, I think you have a pretty nice recorded sound at home and you know if you spent a little more time on tracking each thing, it could be even better. Once you get everything perfect at home, spend some money and take it to a nice studio to get it mixed. You will end up with a much better sounding recording, and better performances because you have more time at home...plus you will save $$$i am sam2 wrote:and just jam a few times, get a couple of gigs...if its anything like the things ive heard you record, surrounded by good MUSICIANS, youll be a hit.
Anyways nice song. Glad to hear another one from you, keep them coming

I really want to start getting into the gigging scene, I just don't know where to start.

Yea thats a hard thing to get into, I've always had bad luck with trying to book shows. You have to have a salesman type of personality, and I'm really bad at faking it. If you can impress them at an open mic, you can get a gig that way....I dunno I need help with booking as welldmbguitar718 wrote:

If you have a band it will certainly be easier(well mabey, you are probably too young to play bars, right?)

Not and OSW rip-off but I can hear that the verse of your song is in the same key as OSW maybe. But I don't know anything about keys and stuff. But no one else would notice. Great guitar piece too. I could definitely hear that tune being on a CD someday.dmbguitar718 wrote:ha. i'm really eager to play this with a drummer from my school. start by playing open mics. the crowds are usually very forgiving, as most people are trying new stuff out. play a couple open mics, get the kinks out....then think about doing your own shows.
