Help please!!
Hey everybody. I need some input on some stuff. My band and I are currently in studio, and I don't know what to think about a Bass line on one of the songs. "Fallen". So far I have been getting mixed reviews. The site is http://www.angelfire.com/indie/r_thompson . Check out the other stuff as well if you'd like. Everything on there is a rough mix, so I know we need to work on a lot of it. I just want to see what you guys think of the music so far. Thanks guys.

are you asking for input on the bassline on that song? i think its fine. i think this song is pretty good. the only thing id sya about the bassline is that like, at parts like the beginning and the part between the first and second singing, where it goes high almost like Kit Kat Jam, that is kinda a guitar-sounding riff, so itd probably sound good as a bridge kind of thing on guitar, or whatever. thats a good song....whats wrong with it?

wait are your feelings that it sounds more like a guitar part? id say thats justified to an extent...because its not necessarily ruining the song that it sounds like that. (and im only talkin about that intro line, not the stuff durin the singing, i think that sounds fine)Four Eyes wrote:Yeah I was trying to convey that to my Bass player, but he wants none of it. Originaly it was supposed to be a little more depressing of a song. It seems it has been turned into more of a Jam band song though. I guess I just want to know if my feelings on the song are justified or not.
Peace!!
well, i am a bass player, and i take all suggestions openly about parts that i come up with, and if they seem like they will make the song better, i do it. if your bass player refuses to consider it, thats not a good sign. BUT i dont think its a bad bassline, and i dont think its totally "wrong" for the song, so i would say you shouldnt worry bout it unless it really bothers you.
maybe a compromise? have bass doin the intro and then switch it up to guitar on the next part, or vice versa? just ideas let me know how it turns out

I was thinking that It would be an excellent solo before the song. It would kick all forms of ass by itself, building up into the song. I could envision it going into different parts. Maybe with some sort of beat slowly building it up. Only to drop back down at the begining of the song. I don't know, I guess we could work something out there. Its a pretty short song as it is anyway. I guess a little more meat to it wouldn't hurt. I just know he put some hours into figuring it out. And I don't want to be the egotistical bastard of the band. More talks seem to be in order I guess. Thanks i am sam2. I appreciate the input.
