why when i use audacity it doesnt sound that great?

i have cheap mic so that could be it. or do you guys no any tricks or things i need to make my recordings sound some what clean.

Well, don't be expecting studio quality with a $2 mic and a crappy sound card. I guess we need to know more about your setup

my set up consists of the mic that comes with the computer and the sound card came with it too....not sure if it helped but what do you recommend i do with out spending a ton of money

well, what does it sound like? is it just clipping? if so, try keeping the microphone further away. maybe post a clip so we can diagnose where the problem is coming from?

you'll need to have someplace to host it. there's a sticky in this thread explaining how to do that with angelfire, there's also sites like http://www.yousendit.com that you can use real quick for free

that sounded fantastic with the exception of the clipping. how close is the microphone from the guitar when recording this? i would also turn down the microphone in the windows volume control panel
