Well, my first song recorded w/ the Martin
Well, my first song recorded w/ the Martin
As I'm sure everyone here knows the story behind my guitar. Although I am lucky enough to have this amazing guitar.....it's almost bittersweet.
Well, I was sitting here thinking of my Grandpa and getting a little sad. I then just started playing while thinking of the last time I saw him.
Here's what I came up with. It's really very pre-lim and I messed around a couple times that def didn't sound great but you should get the idea. I like it....anyway...enjoy

I have some temp lyrics that I was writing in my head as I played the song. Not so much lyrics just stuff that was going through my head when I was in the hospital room. I tried to convey that in the music a little.....
Lemme know what you all think....HONESTLY.....peace

Ha....I would put a tab up for it but there aren't any video's out of it being played!!!DustyDave wrote:Put a tab up you lazy bastardi like that tune alot , and the Martin sounds sweet , congrats ....
PS add some vocals to that one eh , imho its a very cool tune

The idea behind the song is I am sitting in the hospital room w/ my grandpa and family.......and I know it's the last time I am going to see him. But given the situation(cancer is eating away at him)....it's a happy song. It's the stuff I was thinking about at that time.....the fishing trips, basketball games, etc. It is also about my grandpa in general. How he was a simple man....all he needed to be happy was his Boston sports, fishing boat, his store, and his family/friends. I'm thinking about adding in a bridge or beginning that's a little darker to reflect the situation in general....but bring it back to the happy part saying in a way to say it's not necessary to think about the bad times....but just the good stuff that was his life.
After my test today, test tomorrow, and project due tomorrow....I will put up a tab and then sit down and really work on the lyrics to this song. I think it could turn out really good.
Also, this Martin MAKES me play. I haven't written a new riff in a while and I wrote like 4 just yesterday and they all sound....well, decent....I think. Anyway.......more comments/feedback....HONESTY PLEASE!!!....peace all

it's very playful, makes me think of playing games with a grandfather as a little child... where they are the most influencial to us. nice transition at around :39 - rest of the song is great. work on the notes, when you have long breakdowns between chord jumps they have to be SOLID or they drag on and on and on.

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
im kinda behind on this but that is a tight song. yeah, i feel like im at the park eating sunflower seeds listening to that stuff. i dont really have any complaints cuz i was thinking about gettting some sunflower seeds through most of the song. im sorry about your grandfather. a song can be such a tribute. good stuff man.

I really like what you got, but let me tell you some things I think need tweaked.
I'll call the current parts of the song the main riff (with that fill at the end) and the chorus riff (which is just the strumming).
I like the main riff, but I think youre playing it too many times. Maybe just use it as an intro and a lead in after the chorus. You can play the current chorus riff as the verse. For your chorus, you could do something like walking some notes up the A string (or the E string... sorry I couldn't get the key it was in) and then strum some nice minor chords that slide up the neck to add a kind of mellow tension that you can blow away by playing your main riff with that happy cheerful fill at the end.
You can make a nice bridge by shifting up a 5th and switchin up the rhythm/progression/both.
Dont get me wrong, man, I'm not trying to be negative. If ya don't think my suggestions flow with what you have in your mind, thats koo.
Regardless, I still wanna hear v2 of the song whenever you get to it. Thats some good stuff ya got there, man.
