Karma Police - Howie Style - by Cricket

Unread post by cave_cricket » Mon Mar 03, 2003 12:00 pm

Ok. I got my DL4 on Friday...woo hoo...so one of the first songs I learned to use it with is Howie Day's version of Karma Police.

So...I took a shot at it. I screwed in at least 2 spots but did not want to stop recording so I just plugged through. And I know that the vocals are real low but that is because I'm recording it live and have no mic for my vocals so I have to find that good position of my computer mic to balance it out. This was a one taker

Anyway...let me know if you like it or not....

i personally LOVE howie's version of this song... but here are my thoughts on yours :)

sounds like your straining your voice a bit on this song. it's definitely a very very high pitch song.. i mean listen to the radio guy... he almost exclusively sings in his falcetto... and howie's voice is impossible to match in intensity and passion. guitar sounded real good. very on.. you are definitely on top of the changes in the guitar patterns and such. 3:00 and on sounds REALLY good. i've never noticed howie doing loops in this song... i think he does it so subtle that i've never picked up on it... but now that i hear you doing it really sounds familiar so i know i've heard it :)

awesome stuff man... do buzzing or after you ;) if you do it correctly i'll gie you a shiney penny

well i just learned this song this past weekend cause its friggin awesome. i was trying to do radiohead not howie (singin wise) but this is a really hard song to sing. i think it was a stand up job. the guitar sounds nice and clean. i wish i had a new guitar *sigh. i am impressed w/ the loop thing. never heard howies version but i think that was my favorite part. really cool sounding. thumbs up (extra points for song selection!!!)

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
