Slide (Xoosh...)

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Sun Mar 02, 2003 3:30 pm

Alright...

Xoosh asked me to record a sound clip so he could here the pickup in my Takamine, so I decided to redo Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls (Last time I broke a string while playing, and overall, it was a little sloppy...)

Don't get me wrong, this one isn't profound either, I missed a few notes and strums on top of my guitar being slightly out of tune, but overall its ok. I don't think it's too bad for only have been playing for about 5 months...

By the way Xoosh, I bypassed my preamp so you would get a unaltered sound from the pickup...

(You might have to right click then "save as" the file when the page opens, I'm not sure though...)

I'de appriciate any comments you guys have about the song...

Thanks

Hey....it sounds like to me that your using light strings? maybe even extra light...i recommend atleast medium strings, it sounds like your getting a lot of vibration...but it sounds good...i can tell how u could break a string playing that...but ive never broken a string with mediums...so yeah, give em a try

What pick-up are you using? That's some good sound quality. Overall I think the song sounded good, especially if you've only been playing 5 months.......nice work.

I played it in Standard Tuning w/ the following pattern...

Intro/Verse:
Em7
Dsus4
Cadd9
G/F#

Chorus:
Cadd9
G
Dsus4
D
Dsus2
D

Bridge:
Em7
Dsus4
Cadd9
G/B
Cadd9
Dsus4

...Just listen to the song and it will make sense...

As for my pickup, it is whatever came installed with my Takamine...

This is how i do slide...the intro part, in standard tuning, with a capo on the first fret.....

E:--------------------------------------------------
B:-----3-------3---------3---------3-----3--------
G:---0--0---2---0-----0---0----0-----------------
D:-2------0-------0--------------------------------
A:--------------------3--------2--------------------
E:-------------------------------------2-------------

I think that is right, but I am at school and i dont have my guitar with me, so i'll double check later, Pe@cE

That looks about like how I played it as well...I just don't bother with the capo...

Acoustics

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Thu Mar 06, 2003 9:59 pm

If you ever hear John Rzeznik play the song acousticly, its in standard tuning...He usually only uses the funky tunings for when he plays with the band...
