I think everyone has made their submissions, so if jkanter doesn't put something together REALLY soon, I say everyone just put their songs in a single thread with a poll. in order to vote, people would have to listen to each one. do we want to say that you can't vote for your own, so as to encourage less biased voting?? maybe we could require that everyone post who they voted for so that we can make sure people are consistant...

Here's my contention with "not voting for your own"..what if you honestly felt your cover was the best? I mean...MOST of us are honest enough and humble enough to not vote for themselves but some are egotistical enough to do it, jsut because they won't let anyone be better them....so I see it as catch 22.

So I don't know...jsut vote for whatever...even if everyone votes for their own they are all on the same playing field.....

Peace,

I don't think the artists should vote for themselves....let it be a completely objective contest....just for the public!

ok, here's what I say. I'll take a little initiative here. If by, say, 4:00 eastern today jkanter has not gotten on top of this, I will create a thread in which everyone can post their covers. It will be entitled "Final Contest Entries." Billies covers and ONLY Billies covers can be included. Gregplaysguitar is out for the weekend, so we'll have to post his for him. After that has been done, I will post another thread called "Billies Voting." Votes for covers and ONLY votes for covers can be placed in this thread. Let's not clog either up with compliments/mindless babble/whatever. Keep them pure and easy to use. After you have listened to EVERY cover you are free to vote. But you must listen to EVERY cover. You have three votes: 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place. Say that I think that johntherevelator's is best, followed by cave cricket, followed by jasondmbfan. I would then vote like this

1st place: johntherevelator
2nd place: cave cricket
3rd place: jasondmbfan

You MUST follow that format for voting. A first place vote is worth 3 points. A second place vote is worth 2 points. A third place vote is worth 1 point. It is beneficial to vote for all three places as it helps to recognize those who might not get a lot of first place votes, but do get other votes. Voting polls will be CLOSED, DEFINITELY AND ABSOLUTELY at 10:00pm eastern time on Saturday.

Everyone is free to vote. The ballot is not restricted to people who did covers.

Finally, you CANNOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF, NOT FOR 1ST, NOT FOR 2ND, NOT FOR 3RD PLACE!!! This will help curb rampant bias and subjectivity.

If there are any complaints with this format, let me know. If not, I will post another thread so that these rules can be found easily.

Alright, let's get this thing moving!

I like you're idea of 1,2,3 places......I thought it was just a vote for winner. Nice initiative Tico.
