My own little improv

Unread post by cave_cricket » Wed Feb 05, 2003 2:57 pm

Ok....I switched on my amp and highly sophisticated recording equipment (computer mic) and just started to play.

This is what came out...this fumbled array of noise.

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/alb ... 87&alid=-1

Please let me know whet you think. What worked, what didn't (believe there is a lot that didn't)

Only one riff in there I have actually played around with before. It was inspired by Jeff Martin's (Tea Party) 12-string intro to Sister Awake. Download a live version of Sister Awake to hear it..it's pretty sweet.

Feel free to say "you suck"...jsut say why!

Peace, love, good tunes...

(edited title by xoosh... "inpov" bugged the heck out of me;) )

Cave....I liked it. To me, at times it seemed like a cross between Dave and Jimmy Page......very clear and crisp picking and chord changes. I liked the first half of the song in particular.....nice job.

Thanks for the replies....I'll have to try and remember what I did for the first half of the song so I can try to make something out of it.

Thanks again.

Sounded like sad Mariachi music on acid........I like it. :D

I gotta agree with the other posts I liked the first part a little better but I thought the delayed playing was also very cool sounding.

for the most part, i was able to get into it.. the harmonics are wonderfully done. but kill that damn delay!! it's appropriate at around 0:50, and when that part finishes quit it... use it for the harmonics a LITTLE, but dont continue it that often... at least to me the harmonics and delay got on my nerves when over used. however i do think this has some serious potential. definitely needs soem fleshing out if you're going to be this without words.

Very cool...I myself am very fond of improv...sounds great especially around the first minute mark...kinda gets a little after you break off into the delay...very improv though, and that is why I like it so much...oh my... I got to let you listen to a improv recording of mine that I did when I first got my DL-4 to just show you how the harmonics sound like you stole the one riff from me!

I really like it, and am glad to see that other people like improv too

I'm jealous. I can't improv worth shit but that was very good cavecricket, how you came up with that. It's kinda Tea Party like (if you've ever heard of them) I like the delay sound on the chords, and I like how ya kept the bass string going as you improv'd on the higher notes. you should carve that into a song man. :)

peace,
Ken
