Iron & Wine - Naked As We Came

Unread post by uofatbone » Sun Jul 04, 2004 7:59 pm

I've tryin to transcribe this song for a couple of days and I finally got it (or it's as close as I can get to the original). I cheated a little bit though; I'm not able to play it completely all the way through without messing up somewhere along the line, so I played the two seperate riffs and just created a loop out of it...it works for the recording. This is my first crack at recording so it's not perfect, but I think it turned out decent.

I just need some feedback; I let my family listen, but you know how families are "Oh it's perfect!" "It's so goooooood!" etc... I need some outside opinions.

Here it is (EDIT: The link is popping up and down, i dunno what's wrong)

Angelfire finally let me create an account (it wouldn't a while ago): Click the link on this page. Ignore the link in the last post.

...yeah, the family's comments can't always hold strong. First thing to work on: don't cheat haha. I can't really say the guitar is good knowing that you looped it, so it's just ok. You just have to practice more, over and over and over, etc... the vocals are just aight, some times sound better than others, some parts sound nasally. They do need work too though, carrying notes, etc... keep it up

Definitely not a bad first post at all...peace

Excellent to see an Iron & Wine post! I was hoping I'd get the first cover off, but that's all right. Because of the loop, the squeak at the end of the guitar verse is pretty noticeable.

Your voice wavers a bit, but it does pretty well overall. It seemed a bit hollow in terms of emotions, but for a first post it's great.

The guitar part for the chorus still sounds a bit off so you may want to work on that. I'd tab it for you, but it's far more rewarding to do it by ear. ;)

Great job overall. 7/10 chopsticks.
