Acoustic Original
This one came about surprisingly quick; I composed it one day, then memorized and recorded it the next. I hope you like it. :)

C&C greatly appreciated, of course.

Ack, my mistake! My ftp host is down, and I thought geocities would work. Anyway, I signed up with angelfire.com and hosted it there:

Thats a pretty cool melody, I enjoyed it a lot. is that two tracks? also I might try a walking bassline...you do it at 1:31 and it sounds money. any vocals?

There's just one track; one guitar. Actually, I'm not too good at keeping my tempo dead-on, so it's a good thing this was just a solo guitar piece. XD And there are no vocals, or I would have sang. This is just an instrumental. :)
Buck23: I actually started making a bass line when I just had the main riff. Here's what I had:
Get the midi here, Buck23: http://www.angelfire.com/band2/jer
Feel free to expand upon the bass part; I'm not using it. And thanks for the nice comments, guys. I'm glad you like it. :)

Capo on 4th fret. If they don't make bass capos (I don't play bass), then you'll just have to play 4 frets up from this tablature. :)

Yeah, I agree with knasty, It's just really peaceful... Of course lyrics would improve it, a chorus, bass, vocals, all that. Give us more man...

Yeah, it's just one guitar. It's actually really easy to play. Simple, simple picking. Hell, I composed it back in May so it would have to be easy (I only started playing the guitar in August 2003).
I'm probably not going to do anything with it, though, because I'm always moving on to something else. Rarely do I spend more than 3-4 days on a composition (well, then there's the minor things you do every once in a while to improve it), but lately I've been trying to get a 2-part guitar medley composed and recorded and they keep turning into piano pieces. I posted #25 on here a while ago (didn't get any critiques, and well, no bad news is good news, or maybe people are just waiting for an MP3) and I'm already up to #35 or somewhere around there.
The next things I post'll most likely be covers, though. If I can ever get my computer to run a metronome at a steady rate I'm going to try to do Stairway to Heaven with 2 guitars on rythm, one on voice, 1 for the solos, and anothere electric track for those little slides during the outroduction. I finally found 15 minutes last night to memorize the rest of the solo, so that got me back into that song. I'll probably do Classical Gas soon too 'cause I've been enjoying playing that song lately....
And then there's Dave's stuff that I want to practice singing to cover! I love So Damn Lucky. It think it's just that irony between the music and the subject matter, and that resonating innocence and sadness throughout it that really jumps out at me. I love that song. It's that long A5, B5, C#5 where I'm having trouble keeping it steady. It's pretty damn close, but you can tell I go off-key just slightly. Kind of like when you're tuning your guitar and you're almost there but the pitch is just slightly off and your can here the difference in the frequencies. I like #41 a lot too. It's a song I've come up with a lot of jams and solos to, plus I finally sat down and figured out the intoroduction a bit ago, so that'd be cool to have in there.
What the hell was I rambling on about.... I think I'll stop now. XD
