The Direct X command is basically a way that you can get other effects made by companies other than the makers of Cool Edit to work. I run Cool Edit and Cakewalk, and if you look under direct X command in Cool Edit it has all of the Cakewalk effects and filters listed. It's actually really usefull if you find features in other programs you like.

Just a note... The Direct X menu is where you can generally find 3rd party effects generators and filters (i.e. the sonic foundy suite of filters... good stuff, I recommend them to all). There are millions of places on the web to get ton's of free filters. I'll post another post with links when I have them all together...

LINK The best site, everyone should DL the iZotope Vynal effects generator... it's amazing what you can do with free filters!

GReat tutorial Xoosh......very helpful. I downloaded the trial version and just tonight my free trial time ended and I swear it's recording at a VERY low volume level all of a sudden. What do you know about the trial period of this thing...does it actually stop working properly? I was under the impression most people on these boards just downloaded it, use it, and never actually buy it. THoughts?

Does Cool Edit Pro allow you to slow down the tempo of a song but still keep it in the same pitch?

For example, if I wanted to slow down an intro to a song in order to hear the notes better, can I do that? I'm guessing 'no', but I thought I'd ask.
