You're right. I'm sorry. I just hate to see someone waste talent by simply mirroring someone elses work (and sometimes passing it off as their own).deceptivehero wrote:Pat man, you used to be the man inspiring everyone on the board to play good clean it up and all that I still think your sound is awesome, but what are you thinking with the instahate on ANYones music. You know it comes down to doing what makes you happy in music, for you that is creating, for others its just playing your heroes tunes.

I don't wanna encourage this thread to continue but I feel the need to post here.
I think you are all a greatly talented group of people who are entitled to an opinion without having to deal with someone bashing your opinion. If someone wants to sing and play the "dave way" then so be it......but be prepared to take the criticism and deal with it. As long as you have fun doing it....that is all that matters.
I am a beginner and I suck at playing but I enjoy doing it. I know I will never gain the skill and have the talent I see on this board...but that is okay cause I have fun. Oh well, I guess I will never achieve my goal of being the female version of Dave Matthews.
Anyway, I enjoy this place much and have gained some knowledge, tips, and tricks from you all........

No worries. You'll get there. Time and practice thats all it takes. Usually practice is extremly fun! But i would love to hear some of your work. I have never heard a female do a dave cover. I think that would sound pretty cool.
Cheers,
Jack

Thanks for the encouragement.........I don't think I could ever make a recording.............I couldn't carry tune if my life depended on it. I cannot play a DMB song yet.....but maybe in a few months I will attempt to try and play an easier one. Once thing I can say......is that I know the words to just about every song and even if I can't sing well.....I sure do enjoy singing them.
My point..............have fun with whatever you do and enjoy it to the fullest because there may come a day when you can't.
Again.....I am amazed daily with the talent on this site.
