either of those songs would be great! as recommended, audacity is a competent tool.
vocals aren't necessary or required, but I would advise against simply playing the guitar part and leaving it at that. experiment, do some lead lines, do your interpretation of the song, whatever. I left this open ended, because there are tons of musicians on this site more talented than I am, and I want to hear what you guys can do.
CBalvarez, I think a 2nd guitarist is fine, especially since you will be playing live, as opposed to a controlled recording environment. Unless other competitors feel otherwise?

We should have these annually...Once a month. Every other month would be Dave themed. Some we could go by album one month for Dave, random cover from a certain decade, open Dave, open cover, etc. It would be a great thing for the community.

I'm definetly down for that. I was kind of hesitant about starting this, but there seems to be a lot of interest. Monthly competitions would be sweet.

Can I do "Steady As We Go" on guitar? Or would you require it on piano?

I'd prefer guitar, I like the way it transfers, very simple, but pretty.
Edit: Open-ended? Fvck yeah, I'm doin' guitar. WEEEE!!!!!! Steady As We Go it is.

I've started to upload the songs that I've recieved. They still might change, as their contributors have ~ a week to touch them up. However, I'm only putting up songs that have been stated to definetly be the final product.
check the first post for the link/more info.

What kind of equipment do you need to record? Sorry, not very savvy with technology. Would love to do this but would have to go buy the equipment. I would probably do Fool To Think, Billies or Best Of What's Around.
