it's a tribute band...he's supposed to sound like dave. if it were his own band doing his own stuff then criticise him. but leave the kid alone guys for crying out loud. a tribute band is supposed to be as close to the real thing as possible..am i wrong?

oh and by the way...great solo.

hey, you guys are the tribute band in NC. omg, i've seen you guys play up at boone. i go to school at App state. i didn't realize. you guys are freaking tight. close your eyes and you're listening to dave at half the price.

As a matter of fact you are wrong. Tweaking your voice to sound like somone else is a sure way of cutting short any music career you would hope to have. It's just not good for the vocal chords so telling him that was more a matter of safety than anything.
It also sounds really phony. A better way to go about it would be to sing in your own voice while trying to inject as many nuances to make it more "Dave like".

i don't know those facts, but i'm not sure. people sing very differently all the time. people tweak their voices to make different noises while talking, singing, yelling, i mean if yo uthink about it, you're always changing your voice. if the tweaking that you're talking about is a huge stretch for you, like someone w/ a deep voice trying to sing w/ justin timberlake, then maybe that would be bad for you...not sure though, just a thought

I agree with appsoldier. The amount of criticism aimed at the lead singer of a DMB tribute band for sounding like Dave is hysterical! It's a tribute band. Should he start singing like a whiny emo kid instead or something? I don't get it. He's not going to hurt his vocal chords by modulating his singing patterns slightly.

It sound's great, keep up the good work.

I don't really give a flying fuck if someone wants to sound like Dave. I was giving sound advice on how to avoid health problems.
Let me guess, you guys don't know shit about it. I do know the facts so please don't insult me by making lame assumptions with no knowledge to back it up.

Let's not hijack this guys thread anymore that it is.

wow dude, i admitted i was making an assumption and was no way putting you down personally. you got way too mad over that. i'm sorry if i offended you. if you have facts that i don't, please let me in, that was my point anyway.

i've already told the guy that his solo was awesome and that their band is kick ass cause i've seen them. if anything, we're keeping it at the top.

Thanks APP for your comments. Like our website says at http://www.dmbtributeband.com we've got half of a new band and the drummer just recovered from lung surgery so I won't have any media on the site until after this weekend, but we are playing at NC State for Deep South Records Friday and will have lots of pictures and quicktime video of songs like #41 from the audience view, and stage view. There will be video of the drummer singing and playing and individual solos on saxaphone, piano, violin, guitar, bass, and drums. You couldn't ask for more on a site so join our mailing list by clicking on any site link and mailing the address that is available. The site will be totally updated with the new media, bios, history, setlist, and other goodies. Hope you check it out and stick with it. I'm actually hoping to land a show at legends for November before the break so maybe you can check us out there, and our favorite fans make it on the guest list and never pay cover charges.

PS. In my brothers case our family medical history has caused him to have lung perforations that are aggrevated by ANY vocals, and have caused us to cancel our very first two shows, and our third to last performance. The DMB has nothing to do with it, according to the surgeon.
The DMCB is officially broken up. 2-Step is stepping up to be the next best national tribute to DMB.

That last post was aimed more at Willin than you. Whatever...everyone sing exactly like Dave and the world will be a better place.

I'm reffering to the vocal chords and the larynx, having a lung problem is copletely different so it obviously wouldn't have anything to do with it. Not to mention he's young and this whole issue is about longevity, things he needs to do now to maintain his voice over the years. Blah der blah de blah...

Maybe you were just wrong in the first place...

Whatever, i'm not going to change this thread into a flame fest so I won't comment any more in it.

Well, after all the vocals I just want to post to get the lick back on top for more criticism. I'd like to upload more, know if the members are interested in hearing more, and especially live clips from the new band, but some of my solos too ya know. You guys are my only input that I can trust and value with tim reynolds as a measure of contrast.

I have no interest in listening to a tribute band but I have lots of of interest in listening to a talented guitarist. You have any of your own personal stuff? An instrumental perhaps?

hey, nice solo. Since you solo a lot. do you use any particular scales? i have only played in major when solo. Just wonder if there is a better type of scale to solo on. I know its about the notes, but jw.
