Ok, I know it cant be too good, but heres a recording of One Sweet World. I didnt mess up at all. I took your advice and actually put some time into recording it. (coop, its not perfect, but thats the best i can do).

hey, this one was better than you first one for sure. this one kept much closer to the song than the other one. but, as with many of us who post up here, you still need voice work and a little bit more singing/playing coordination. keep on practicing and keep on posting! good job!

Hey, thanks. I'd just like to see what coop has to say. Does anyone know if singing lessons are worth it? Because i think it would be cool to play and not be embarassed about my voice. I think I might look into some.

Ahhhhh shitt!!!!!!!!.....looks who's back!!! The infamous Coop, the asshole of the site. That's cool you guys may think that...I promise you I won't lose any sleep over it 8)

Anyhow, I'm just going to be flat out honest with people for their sake. As you may have noticed in his last post he states "at least its better knowing I suck before I take it to school and be laughed at by people I know." Dude, I'm not saying you suck...I really came off the wrong way. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I would want someone to tell me that I'm not "good enough" to play in front of people and get a positive reaction from them. You just need to practice more and become more polished before taking a big leap like that...especially playing DMB songs...they aren't the easiest. Its fine to do that if you can take a little negative criticism, but when I was at your stage, and I'm sure we've all been there, I wouldn't sing out or anything because I felt that I wasn't good enough YET to do so. Now I know that I am, but I still let my bandmate do the singing in our band.

It's all about confidence and it you have it and don't give a flying fuck about what others say, then go for it. I just know how I would feel if I went out at that stage of my musical career and people didn't respond positively. I probably would have given up. I practiced my ass off and that's the only way to get better. Fuck lessons...fuck having someone try to teach you to sing...find yourself man. I don't even play DMB songs anymore because it was a stepping stone for me to get to where I am now. You'll get there..just keep hacking away....

Now, I must say...it is time to have some drinks so lata!! PS--this OSW was better than the Ants, but the singing is still off. KEEP PRACTICING!!!! IF YOU PRACTICE....IT WILL COME!!! peace

Hey coop...just out of curiosity, I would love to hear you do a song. You say you are a good singer/ and guitarist?. But don't do it if you think all I want to do is criticize your work, because that's not the case at all. I tried that route once before, and it doesn't work for either of the people when one is making "harsh" remarks. I just want to know what is good, etc. peace dude.

I would want someone to be honest with me, and I don't think I would be as far off as I am now if it weren't for that. I'm not trying to start any beef with anyone so get off my case. I was just really confused on why he posted it if he thought it was terrible and that he messed up a few times. That's all...damn!!!
And, Matty "big man" Boom Boom....if you even tried to lay a finger on me you'd be beat the fuck down so don't start talking shit to anyone. Like I said I'm not trying to start anything...you guys talk about honesty and all...well, I'm fucking honest....how wrong is that!!??
It might have been appropriate if he had been playing for years. But i take he has been playing less then one. so lay off. I was happy as hell the first time i played a dave song.i didn't care if i fucked up. relax, and pull whatever is up your ass, out.

I just downloaded and listened to Ant's and I'm gettin OSW right now. Good job on the ants though, for a beginner that was pretty damn good, that was the first dave song I learned and I still can't really get it to sound right. Your strumming was a bit off though, but everyone always tells me to practice so it must work. It's hard to hear the guitar over the violin and other shit sometimes. Good job though.

I just gave both covers a listen , i'll agree that the voice is off in key as well as missing some rhythm , but its nothing that can't be fixed , you just need to work on your singing , as far as the guitar goes , you need to practice the strumming a little bit , which is a common problem to a lot of people , i duno how long you've been playing , but as far as i can understand you haven't been playing long , so i will say that you did very good , better than what most people could pull off when they haven't been playing long ....

Keep practicing and your small fixable problems will go away :) Good job

You stayed a little monotone with OSW, i'd suggest just plugging one of your ears so you can hear yourself a little better and adjust, work on varying your voice and projecting. I think you should relax some, I dunno, get a sensual massage before hand or something ;).

The guitar wasn't bad at all, but definently give the D&T versions a listen...So what I would do is go out and buy a copy of "Live at Luther College". It really is the best resource for guitar players trying to capture dave, and both songs you posted are on there in all their glory.

Don't be scared to post more! Keep playing and posting so you can get feedback from some of the knowledgeable people on this site! You'll be on key and playing guitar like a mofo in no time! Peace.
