what the hell is a tempo change anyway?..and bro you need to settle down...all i was trying to say was that your tripping billies cover sounded like a ten year old was playing the guitar...i dont give a shit what all this tempo theory bullshit is...the mp3 of me playing is exactly how dave plays it and no one in their right mind would say otherwise...so what if thats my goal to play it exactly like dave...every single person on this board would do it that way if they could, and obviously you cant...peace out my brotha!

Your originals are great man, but I would stay away from the dave covers...besides, originals are all that matters anyway, who gives a shit if you cant play dave right?

actually, dmbfan, in spite of your insulting my guitar playing abilities and references to ten year olds, i am quite settled down and am sorry if my tone communicated otherwise.

tempo changes have to do with the speeding up or slowing down of the song in question, which you do, and dave does not with billies, so you don't play it exactly like him :).

and as i said in my post, i play things differently not because i can't play them exactly like dave, but because i choose not to. i'm surprised that you didn't come away with that understanding from my post, as i rambled on and on about it, trying to make that overwhelmingly clear.

as to your final question: who gives a shit if you can't play dave right? i sure don't, but you seem to, due to the insulting of my playing and repeated references to your own supposed prodigy in being able to play "exactly" like dave. for your information, i have played dave covers for many people who are not quite as star struck as you who say that they prefer my versions to dave's

again, a cover is all about changing it up. you should mess around with it some time.

Your communication did convey otherwise tico....well, if i did change the time up .00000001 of a sec, i didnt do it on purpose but i guess you have a master ear...and i reallly dont believe you that you "choose" otherwise to play dave songs differently....why dont you try to play the songs "right", just to humor me eh? peace bro.

you changed it by FAR more than .0000000001 sec or whatever you called it, and if you were playing with a band it would have created absolute hell. i don't have time right now to go out and put down perfect dave guitar parts as im right in the middle of finals, and i'll be travelling all of christmas break after that. once i get back, if i really feel like it, maybe i'll put something down that's perfect. really though, i don't see the need for it, and i could care less if you don't think i can play dave songs just right.

AHH THE HORROR!! DMBFAN SAID I CAN'T PLAY LIKE DAVE!!! WHAAAAA!!! WHAAAAA!!!

hey gcom.....remember our little agreement man? well, if it wasnt extended into all posts, i think it should be, because its not worth the arguing between me and you...

and tico, Im not too impressed with your rythm man to be quite honest, especially in trippin...I didnt get past the first 30 secs of that song before turning it off...work on your rythm and check back with me bro! peace

And btw, people sit here and nitpick the shit out of my covers, talking about "when you sing this "particular word", I would sing just a hair higher, then it would be good"...And then I go and listen to their covers, and its like right off the bat,"Damn, Whoa, Ouch(Tico's Trippin among others)"..so why cant i give a little critiquing....I mean, its just my opinion you know?

jason, i have no clue why you're whining about how people comment on your covers. just to make sure my memory wasn't completely shot, i went back and checked some of the criticisms on your covers. the VAST majority were both INCREDIBLY vague and VERY positive, the TOTAL opposite of the negative nitpicky stuff you suggest.

The reason i was specifically critical of your billies cover is that you seemed to think you really had it down, and i thought this was a way you could improve it.

i don't know what you're talking about in saying that my rhythm was "Damn, Whoa, Ouch." sounds like angry exaggeration more than anything else. if you're talking about the muting of the strings, i did that because i like the faint ring of the harmonics from the 5th fret more than the ringing of the strings, especially as so much of that song is very resonant. it adds for good contrast, i think. it also says alot about your critique if you think you can make intelligent commentary after listening to a song for 30 seconds...

Well, the reason I listened to it for only 30 secs is because it didnt keep my interest...try to put it into the perspective of...hmmm, lets say slipknot? I mean could you honestly listen to more than 10 seconds of their music?...and BTW, I DO have trippin billies down pat because i have shown clips of it to other Dave fan guitarists and they said its perfect...so whatever about what the "MagnifiTico" says, who pays more attention to theory than sound and is way over his head when it comes to dave...and what do you mean vague critiquing? some guy told me that the "1st love" on the "4th chorus" needed to be a little higher(christmas song)...i was like what? listen, all I want to hear is you play the dave songs right(the hard way). OK? no excuses, just that...later my brotha!

hey guys, i bet i'm the first guy ever to sound like slipknot while playing tripping billies!!!!!

that's right, i'm way over my head with dave, just keep telling yourself that. :) even with my added hit ons/pull offs, changing chord structures, varying voices, and slightly more syncopated rhythms, dave's way is definitely harder. (here's a hint: dave is not always playing what your nice little tabs say to.)

i suggest you go look at some of the older posts if you're so worried about your criticisms. like i said, you'll find that the majority are very vague and positive. see, i bother to actually read/listen to something before i comment.

theory is sound. if you would bother to look into it, you'd know what i'm talking about. it isn't wise to bash something you're not familiar with.

THE "MAGNIFITICO" HAS SPOKEN!!!

Man, all that BullShit you "ADDED"...lol....you just say that cuz you cant play it right bro...you dont fool me my brotha! damn, I should just play a shitty version and say I "added" to it and it will be better?...also I never said you sounded like slipknot man...do you have a misunderstood word?...I said to take it into the perspective my brotha!

and samuri, this conversation has never been about ticos originals...keep that in mind...

Theory is by no means sound, well by sound do you mean noise and music and bla bla bla? because if you do, you are sorely mistaken...theory has nothing to do with application...it is the text, and without the actual sound, theory would not exist...peace out my brotha!

hmm, well, tico's is different, but rhythmically it's fine, I like it a lot better than anything I've heard from you honestly...it sounds original, and not just copying DMB...covers aren't supposed to sound the same, and while yours are fairly accurate as far as what you're playing, rhythmically, I don't think you have much room to talk...
