it means your song has been edited into the original post. now people who listen won't get the bad song. there's no such thing as dq'd unless it's not an original. this is an internet message board competition, it's not supposed to be taken too seriously ;)

Kenny Clark (Longleggedfrog)-Average Man: this song, as stated before, flows so well and is simple yet beautiful. i get a kind of neil young feel out of that riff (and the words) great work, i really like this song.

Chris Backstrom (CBAlvarez)-Blind Fold: gives me a kind of saga-esque feel with that change. reminds me of someone but i cant remember who...maybe goo goo dolls i think. feels to me like its the solo intro to a song where the rest of the band will come in...definately great work though

Tom Cadaret (juineaux)-coldest night of the year: good song, definately hear the bob dylan-esque voice, but not my type of voice. the song also doesnt hold my attention well, a bit slow and uninteresting to my ear. nonetheless it is clearly well written and in that regard, i think its a great work.

Adam W- The Waking Hours: get a little carribbean feel from this one, very cool...and soothing. i like when the drums kick in more around 3 minutes. i dont have much to say about this except that i like the feel and the song in general, great work.

Nick (Maxpower00044)-Forceful Grip: i like the acoustic-electric relationship in this song. semi-jazzy feel which i like, sounds like some good dinner-mood music. for the most part, in songs like these a melodic solo is good, and for the most part, thats what you did here, so i like it. great work.

Mitch (Appfro)-Dignity: like the overlap for the instrumental at the beginning. voice is a little off what im a fan of. got the feel it was gettin ready to go full band, so that was cool. i could really hear drums goin well with that main riff. when you get to about 3:50 it actually reminds me of someone too but i cant remember. great work.

micah (freshead16)-Tomorrows Yesterdays: like the acoustic here at the beginning. not a big fan of the vocals, just not my style. good little solo in my opinion, it fits quite well. great work

Jonathan Bietz (coldchillin23222)-Empty Room: like the music for the verse, but not a fan of the vocals, just not my style. i think the chorus reminds me of a kweller song...and the verse reminds me of someone too. not really my type of stuff here, but its put together well, great work.

Mitch (You_Enjoy_Myself)-New Year's Eve: the only one without words and i really like it. it reminds me of a phil keaggy instrumental i have. very soothing and pleasant to listen to. you also do a great job of keeping interest with the variations/changes, so that is great.

overall these are great, i admire all of you whove put this up. and thanks to swede for organizing it. also, dont take too much from my little blurbs beecause they are essentially just what i like/dont like...i dont really say what isnt good cuz you wrote it so you know how you want it to sound...great work to all

This is all great stuff, I will be voting, but not for myself. I appreciate the critiquing as well, I know mine is too long ( ; there are supposed to be some solos in there that i never added lol. Everyone keep up the great work, I love listening to peoples originals!

AVerage Man - This song has a great feel, and great flow to it...I like it alot.

Coldest Night - This song I could sleep to, but that is in the best of ways, I love music I can listen to in that late hour to relax me, and help me float away, definately dig this one

Waking Hours - I think music in this song is very good, not really my kind of music tho, kind of sounded a little like elevator music to me, but its well done and tasteful

Forceful - Great bluesy sound, very good vocals and lyrics I like this one alot, I think the guitar solo will be perfect when the right drums are added to this one, nice work

Dignity - I don't think this one is well mixed, very good lyrics and guitar tho, i just dont think it gets justice until recorded with better equipment, but you do have to work with you got, so kudos

Tomorrows Yesterday - Fantastic guitar, but I dont feel the vocals, i think the reverb could ruining them a little, i dig it tho

Empty Room - I love the full band sound, i think the verse vocals are awesome, but the do seem to be just tad off on the chorus parts...this song just works, thats all i know...like it alot!

New Years Eve - Minstrel like guitar, neat for sure. I can hear the vocals in my head and see the potential, but for the competition I think you definately need vocals...good work

No Other Way - what I said about music I can relax too...i love the orchestra sound more than anything, it gives it a deep, beautiful, classic sound that I love, I would expect to hear this song in a movie someday, exactly the way it is. i love this one

Hi, everyone. This is a cool little site you guys have here. A friend and I were looking up tabs to put to a banjo and we stumbled across here. I don't really play anything. I'm just a live sound guy. It's actually sort-of weird that I came across this site, because I was just talking to DMB's FOH engineer and Mon. engineer the other day. I met up with Jeff and Ian over in SF the other day. Did anyone go to that show? Maybe I saw you there! But, anyway, I really liked the songs on here. My personal favorite was the last one, I believe it was called No Other Way. Since I liked the music so much I might just decide to pop in every now and agian to give a listen. I'll see ya around.

The Waking Hours gives me a Phish "Fee" album version feel...similar chords?
