Original with cheesy drum machine beat...

Unread post by afurth » Sun Mar 11, 2007 5:52 pm

Feedback is always appreciated. My band should get this pretty together and make it sound good i think. The only problem is that the vocal melodies are a little repetitive i think... anybody have that problem?

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

SOOOOLID!

Probably one of the better things i have heard on the boards, and i mean that. I don't think the drum machine sounds cheesy but it does sound like a drum machine because its too perfect. My advice would be to make this into a midi track and then go through and fuck with a few of the hits to make it sound more human. Move them just a little though, like 1/128th of a beat.

The recording quality is really good too, the mix is strong with the vocals really standing out.

I like the melody but anything you could do to vary it a little would help. Or you could just shorten it...either way.

good stuff man

solid

Vocals and guitar are money... Yes drum beat is same same, but it keeps time none the less..

The only thing I can complain about are the lyrics.. What is this about? It seems like you're trying to hard to come up with one liners.. But nothing really stands out... But maybe I'm just picky, and I'm always partial to songs that tell a story..

Well the tune's about the state of the music industry. Kind of a throwback to how the old boys did it. "broken voices," "45s and dust," "where the music didn't die," "sex, drugs, dreams (the life of a rock star) and nothing in between"

and the chorus - revolution - i'm "revolting" against the current state of music. i'm going to "fix this broken scene" and "get high and then turn it up and play" - unlike a lot of bands nowadays who sell records and don't even tour... i just want to play shows, etc.

So its a deep tune haha, you just have to know what to look for.

dig..

Unread post by AustinG » Tue Mar 13, 2007 11:24 pm

I gave it another listen.. I can dig that.... Just didn't seem to elude to that for me.. Which is cool if you're writing to make yourself happy.. But if you're going for more of a pop crowd with a short attention span..well you know the deal ;)

If you're into how the old boys then you should read some of the Beatles biographies.. Theres one by Spitz that isn't half bad... If you already haven't of course...

Ya, this song is kind of fighting that pop sound, but it has a definite hook. That's why i like it - its a different kind of hook and I think its still good after a listen or two.

ALSO

I added a quick track from my lead player... this is the heart of our sound in the band (along with the three tracks up on the website). Tell me what you guys think

youre right about this song having a hook and thats what makes me like it also. the electic guitar solo seemed a little out of place but i dunno, it could be my lack of sleep. Im not really rational thinking right now so i dont know if my opinion will matter :?:
but yes your vocals are smoothe and pleasant to the ear. Youve always put out stuff i like. And this just adds to that compilation.
keep up the good work mahhn.

Well - the electric will be filled out with a bass and drums. So hopefully that'll help. He's a good player and that was all done in one take. Anyways... any other feedback would be awesome?

You guys like the electric?
