VACATION song : "destination" BRAND NEW

Unread post by superman0710 » Thu Dec 11, 2003 5:09 pm

"destination"
http://www.rampromotions.com/destination.mp3

the whole thing was conceived, written and recorded in an hour.

shitty vocals, VERY SHITTY harmonizing, no solo, no intro. no nothing. bare bones. BUT STILL

YOU'RE ON VACATION!

lyrics
sweet is the sun and how it shines
when i can turn around and leave it all behind
when i can take it all and drop it at my feet
well you can pack it up and run away with me

cause

we have no destination
time to kill
such a sensation

so come and join the party
it's just starting
there's no more yesterday

sweet is the sound the ocean leaves
when i let myself be swept away in the breeze
when i lose myself in all these memories
because i'm free right now and i'll do as i please

there is no need to hurry, lose your mind,
don't stress don't worry.
you'll lose your wife, your car
you'll lose your house
but that's all far now

we have no destination
time to kill
such a sensation

turn on my favorite station
i'm on vacation
there's no more yesterday

lalalalalala

Hey Superman , that was a great song / tune , vocals aren't bad at all , the rhythm and tune reminds me alot of Oasis - Do you wanna be a spaceman , great stuff :)

(p.s: dont forget this is finals time too... some people may come on [like myself] to check out any newness and listen but dont have time to critique)

Recording Technique
The warm-room reverb is way too strong on the guitar and vocals. Dont hide shitty mics behind MASSIVE reverb, it's a newbie technique that is so blatantly obvious what's going on. It's ok to let instruments stand on their own with natural or tight/close reverb!

Song
The guitar opens the song with an interesting energy though i dont get the feeling that it's about vacation -- reminds me more of a fucked up relationship or something... i think it's that minor chord progression (especially the chord you play at like :06)...

The vocals come in very nicely, though your (what feels like fake) accent on the on "ines" sounds [shines, behind, etc...] is rather annoying IMHO... :26 - drop it at my feet could use some help and the pack it up and whatever with me... cant really understand the words there... the yelling part is a cool idea, but i think the guitar part is so contradicting to what you're trying to sing that it falls flat on its face. And when you go back to the "there is the sound" or whatever it is at :49 it's like you werent sure of your self because the transition is so abrupt.

Same comments for the second half of the song.

It's a really cool idea, and the style is neat, but i dont think seperatated parts (guitar and vocals and chorus and the parts of the song) fit together at all.

regards,
x
