How long have you been playing guitar?

Two years....My aunt bought the Central Park DVD to my house and I watched it over and over again.....Thats what inpsired me to become a musician in the first place.....Covers are nice.....I'm working on some of my own material and then i'm gonna try to get a little album down....Thanks for all the input everybody....every little bit is helpful!

Cheers,

I really liked the end of Ants...what chords were you playing during that jam?

Thanks, and well done.

I think it sounds pretty darn good. Do you have any recording equipment?

I also have some recording equipment...I didn't use it for these recordings though. My cousin just filmed it for me...Thanks for the support!

The vocal adlibbing on OSW goes on Waaaaay too long in my opinion, but it's a solid cover.

I liked the end of ants.

Simple man is just sooo overdone I just can't take it anymore. It's a hard sell of a song, punch yourself in the face, repeatedly, before singing it in my opinion. You come through at the end though, props.

Cortez. Yeah, it's a neil young song that dave matthews covered...don't think it counts as non-dmb :P Still, my favorite of them all I think, kick ass cover of dave matthews covering neil young.

Ultimately you're going to hear a lot of "too much dmb". When it's at the point that you're embarrassed to say who sung it originally, you've got issues. Trust me, learned it the hard way. You've got some solid talent but the all night dave-impression-althon will begin to annoy even the most inebriated frat boy.

Your own voice will come in time, when you get more musicians that influence you directly. Every time you learn a new song you'll pick up something new from that artist and leave something behind, just make sure you start learning some songs by someone noticeably different from dave matthews HOWIE DAY IS CHEATING.

Didn't mean to be harsh, but better us than drunken tavern folks :P

Thanks for the tips bro...I appretiate the input....but i guess you don't know my situation....I write my own stuff...I have my own stuff....Have my own style...have my own dance...my own personality....I play Dave Matthews covers so i can get out there and get some popularity going....Yeah its a bit embarrasing when people give me pointers because i know im not playing to the best of my ability...I can only play open mic nights now.....i have equipment like (A mixing board, Speakers, and mics and all that...) But my Mixer weighs about 1000000000 pounds so i have to save up and buy a little 6 to 8 channel mixer and some small 150 watt speakers. As soon as i get that done....My originals will make their debut. I already have a guy interested in recording me at his studio....So eventually the nights of Dave Matthews Covers will end and the original music will come out. Until then its DMB covers for me....Weather you dig it or not....

P.S. I do not appretiate the "Punch yourself in the face" comment....I try to accept all tips but don't take it too far man....Also i would like to see your own cover of Simple Man so i can get an idea of how im supposed to play it. You might want to include a video of you teaching me a technic of punching myself so i can an idea of how to get the absolute best sound...

Thanks,
Jack

lol, I guess that could be misread pretty easily... the brilliant thing about skynard is that he sounded like he just got out of a fight when he sung it...that's all i'm trying to say, not calling you out.

Cortez had the most soul of the bunch and it felt most like an original take, grats on the studio offer man.
