some of the songs had problems with levels being to loud or too low

i didn't listen to all of them, but on the first song you listed, the vocals were too low on the chorus, and drums were too loud on the whole track, everything else wasn't really something to worry about

Pretty nice tunes there Ron , the vocals on the first one are wayyy too low , holding too much back on that , good tunes though i like them , might be like FJ said , a little problem with the levels , but nothing crazy , i don't really know what else to say about them , its 6:04 am here so its not the best time for me to being a critique

ok, I'll pick up where fatjack left off.. just listening to the first tune

Piano: I don't really understand the intro solo.. I play DCI drums and regularly play 7:3 n-tuplets and shit, but damn if I could figure out was going on with that. Some timing issues with that.

Bass: Way over powering.. pretty simple musically, but serves it point.

Lead Guitar: No complaints.. maybe a little hard panned to the right.. same with the piano.. maybe should be like 15% less outwards. The solo has no glaring mistakes although not the most inspiring; it shreds.

Drums: The drummer sounds immature, but keeps an ok beat, needs to work on making his/her fills smoother and can afford to be more creative about them.

.. I feel like I am missing something.. um.. mixing.. I typically don't think very subtractively and I don't know where you are at on the mixing board as it is, but using the drums as a reference.. vocals up like 6db, bass down like 4db, piano up 4db, lead up about 2db.. I think the composition sounds nice no wierd efx upsetting me or anything.. so just fix the levels and maybe moves things more into the center.

there was nothing really complicated about the rhythm of that melody. he started with an eighth note pickup note followed by a triplet and then two eighth notes, once the drums comes in its right on beat

fatjack, if i can write a 2000 word critique on your songs, you can spend a few minutes and critique and respond to his music. Moe, i'll try and get to your stuff real soon.

sorry X, but i usually dont spend a lot of time going into specifics. i just get straight to whether i like it or not, i dont usually go into every detail (which, btw, i think i speak for everybody when i say that we appreciate when you go into detail :) ). i really dont have much frame of reference when it comes to critiquing, i just try to sound like i know what im talking about

thanks a lot guys. any more critisim would be great. We are kinda stuck with the levels we got for now cuase we had to do a very very fast mixing/mastering job in order to save money since we were all fresh out of high school when these were recorded...just a few months ago so we didnt have much money. I just want to know for future reference. Also as far as individaul performances of diff instruments they are all basically first or second takes to save time just to give you a frame of reference. We wanted some kind of decent recording to ditribute at gigs.

I listened to the second song. Wow, that was really good...I liked the piano. THe guitar solo at around 2:00 was good, and i like the drums coming in at 2:27. Get some lyrics on that bad boy
"A George divided against itself cannot stand!"
