These directions dont work for me. I cant get the link onto the site. I get the text on it but its not a link its just the same of the song with no way of getting to it. I can open the song when im editing on the file list but when I actually put a link on the site its not a link. Its just text.

Well I figured out what I was doing wrong but It still doesnt work. I was typing in the name of the song in the title box. But when I typed it in the URL box it still didnt come up as a link. Then I typed in a web page in there and that didnt come up as a link either.

OK. So I know what to do now. You type the web page in the URL box. Like if your user name was rock3/dave and your song name was June.mp3. Then in the URL box you put http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/dave/June.mp3 (this is not a link to anything). Then in the description box you put what text you want to be on the link. Like if you have the song file name as June.mp3 you would type June in the description box. Click save and the link should then appear on the site.

Yes , but i believe they have a bandwidth limit .... And you should never post in WAV format , most people don't wanna sit around and wait for a big file to download ....

this is a huge bump, but go to http://www.dmusic.com and you can upload any songs that you recorded (covers or originals) up to 70+MB. it's free to register, just takes a second.

hope that helps..

I felt this issue needed to be updated a little bit. This is a list of methods of posting any media in the easiest and most DMBTabs.com friendly way possible. This list will cover how to post pictures, videos, and music, for FREE.

#1 Host:

I found this host that will allow any file and any size uppload. You create an account by choosing you user name and password and your logged in. From there you can browse you comp for the file then upload it. It places your links on your page for download. This would make the boards much easier for everyone because it allows HOTLINKING as well for direct downloading right from the board itself.

USE IT

Example of a Site

Hotlink Example

All Files:

1. MyShareBox: This is very similar to the boards popular YouSendIt but it has no time limit. As long as the file is downloaded at least once in the past 30 days, it will stay hosted on their server. This will host any type of file.

2. Multiply: This is one of my personal favorites because it will host nearly any type of file is a website format. You may post videos, music, photos, blog, and receive feedback directly on the site. EXAMPLE

3. YouSendIt: I couldn’t leave this out. YouSendIt is probably the most used for the occasional post of a file, and for good reason. It’s fast and gets the job done with some annoying restrictions.

4. 4shared: Talk about power. 500mb storage, unlimited bandwidth and access, 25mb max per file, and best of all is its user interface. This is basically a program within your browser. It takes less than 2 seconds to set up and has very quick uploads. It even offers the ability to stream music and videos without downloading it.

5. eSnips: This is very similar to 4shared, but has a larger storage space of 1GB. It’s slower though and its UI is not as good and doesn’t allow hotlinking.

Music:

1. PureVolume: This is my favorite site for music hosting. It is a great site for aspiring artists. There are some very large names on this site and it can help you get signed. Everything a band needs to bee seen and heard. EXAMPLE

2. dMusic: This is another great host and has even been used for one of DMBTabs.com contests.

3. SoundClick: This has been popular but I personally don’t like it. It does however allow unlimited amounts of track uploads.

4. MySpace: Primarily used for a friends network, but can be used to host 4 songs max I believe. I have found the music player to be somewhat unreliable so I wouldn’t suggest using it.

Video:

1. GoogleVideo: Google is really flexing its muscles. You can upload and size and length of file and direct link to the video. The best feature to this provider is the fact that you can insert the video right into your website using HTML.

2. Putfile: Upload video files of nearly every format up to 25mb.

Image:

1. ImageShack: This is probably the easiest site to use to host and publish images. Use this for posting on here, but make sure you resize the image to fit the forums to 800x600 as Jayme mentioned in another post.

Feel free to add/distribute this and make sure to post any corrections I need to make in this thread.
