Videos from my open mic (01.26.2006)

Unread post by fliggil » Sat Jan 28, 2006 2:42 pm

so for those of you who enjoyed the videos i posted of the open mic i did back in november, here's some more from one we did a few days ago. the difference between the 2? we're both now 21, so we were kinda drunk, which means not nervous at all, but more prone to making mistakes, so take these for what theyre worth, we were just having fun.
BTW, I'm on the right just playing acoustic, and my friend is playing/singing on the left. Feedback is welcomed, enjoy.

one funny note, whenever i play guitar anywhere i always find myself just strumming random chords from dmb songs, i know at different points this night i did some halloween, #40, 1 or 2 others, but when i did the opening notes to seek up, you can hear one girl go "yeah play it, do it!"

thanks, unfortunately we didnt really have time to mix the levels more evenly, and the kid who was keeping an eye on the amps was too busy getting drunk and singing along to other peoples songs (yea, thats the guy who basically overpowered us on the general even though we had the mic)

tell the dark guy to tune his guitar a little, other than that it sounded good! (he's one of those random dave song player guys, he's funny).

I only watched The General video. I agree about the levels where the vocals could be turned a bit up. Definitely not a bad job. Maybe try to work out the intro a little better. Other than that I'd say good work!

I thought the guitar was a bit choppy at times.

The vocals during the chorus were nice though

i listened to tiny dancer and the general cuz i love those songs

first i think it would have been better right off the bat if you would have gotten more into it.. singin along and sht rather than just lookin at the neck the whole time.

i think your friend's guitar sounds like butt... or at leas the eq does, imo. his voice was pretty solid for the most part, but didn't really sing in the mic so i dono i could be way wrong

overall i think it was good for havin a small get together like that, i love those kinds of things

i sung along to a few parts i knew, i 'know' all the songs, but i didnt really have the lyrics down pat, and because when we play, its usually kinda reliant on me having the rhythm down, i try to make sure at least one of us is playing right, so the other can focus on singing. since i've been playing longer, and he has the better voice, thats just how it usually works out. but i will keep that in mind, and try to practice more for the future so i can sing a long more. thanks-

yea to me, the only people that can get away with just starin at the neck the whole time is when people are crazy unbelivably awesome ya know what i mean... for the rest of us i've found we have to really "get into it" to be real enjoyable for the audience
