Steady As We Go

Unread post by getoffmywalrus » Tue Jan 03, 2006 4:06 pm

I had this song stuck in my head all weekend so I decided to record it. I had to use my crappy guitar and a quarter as a pick so that explains the metallic sound. Anyway, lemme know what you think, I picked out the chords myself from the album version on piano. I wish I had a multi-track system, if someone wanted to add drums or piano or kazoo that'd be cool.

WTF? you don't have a pick? It sounds good, your voice is a bit reserved, it almost sounds like a ukele with a hawaiin groove to it.

Wow, I actually really like the guitar. If you could tab out your version, that would be great. Good job. Keep truckin'

Here it is, the way I played it. The reason no chord includes the high E or B string is because, well, my guitar was missing those strings, haha I left all my valuable guitar stuff in Eugene over break. So I'm sure some of the chords could add a note or two at the top with a half decent instrument.

Intro:
E ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G ---------8------------------------------------------8---------------7--7-7-----
D –8h10-8--8----------3--x----------------8h10-8----8-----8-------------------
A -------------8h10-8---4--x—4/6--6------------------8h10-----8--8-8-------
E —--------------------------x---------4-----------------------------6--6-6-----

Verse:
E -----------------------------------------------
B ----------------------------------------------
G --------5--------------8--------------7-------
D –-3------------8h10-8--8-------------------
A ---4----6-----------------8h10-8---8--------- (x2)
E —------4-----------------------------6-------
Then
E -------------------------------------------------
B -------------------------------------------------
G ---------------------------8---------------7------
D --------------6----8h10-8--8------------------
A ---5--6-8---4----------------8h10-8---8----- (x2)
E —-6--6-6--------------------------------6-----

"When the storm..."
E ----------------------------------------------------
B ----------------------------------------------------
G -----------------------------------------------------
D –--9--9----4--4----3--3------9--8--4--6/8------ (x3)
A ----9--9----4--4----4--4---------------------------
E ----7--7----2--2----1--1-----/7--6--2--4/6------
Then
E ------------------------------------------------------------------
B ------------------------------------------------------------------
G ------------------------------------------------8---------------7----
D ----9--9----4--4----3----------------8h10-8---8----------------
A ----9--9----4--4----4-----3----------------------8h10-8---8---
E ----7--7----2--2----1-----4----------------------------------6-----

note: it might sound a different key than mine cause I'm sure the guitar I'm using is out of tune, I didn't bother to check

wow.. a quarter as a pick and an outta tune guitar missing two strings... very nicely done

oh and thanks for the tab

edit: for your first hammer.. did you barre the 8 and hammer with your 3rd finger? or use your first 2 fingers on the 8 and hammer with your pinky?

All that hammering stuff is with the 3rd finger while barring the 8th fret with the first finger, I think it makes it easier to slide down to the C#. It's actually a lot similar to playing Angel in standard tuning. While we're on the subject, does anyone know why stand-up tabs aren't yet available on the home page? You'd think they'd have them up by now.

ahh that sucks, they're a bunch of live songs (sugar will) I wish they'd get tabs up for too, I've found some around the internet but most of them seem pretty suspect

that sounds quite good considering you transferred the piano riff onto the guitar.
Thanks for the tabs, too. That's very helpful

by the way, get yourself a pick!! ;) ;)
