Coldplay cover - Swallowed in the Sea

Unread post by borocks » Tue Oct 25, 2005 11:18 am

Hi everyone

I've just finished the recording of this great Coldplay song. It's my famous tune off the new album, so I thought I'd make a cover of it. The song doesn't give much room for improvisation, but it's still a lot of fun.
The beginning without rhythm is a bit tricky, the timing is not completely flawless during this part.

Drop me a line, any comments appreciated.

Cheers, Bo

Bo,

That is my fav tune too. Good job on the cover. Great singer/songwriter song. One critique....I keep feeling like the guitar can be made a little bit smoother. It may just be me though. Love the vocals! Nice work!

Bo

pretty good job man. your voice sounded pretty good on this but if i remember right, you've always had a pretty good voice. you pretty much captured coldplay w/ this song. if i had never heard the song before i still could have guessed it was a cold play song just because of how you sang it.

so what i'm saying by that is not much originality in your voice, but if that's what you were going for then thumbs up and you sounded good. even your falsettos were really good.

you struggled a bit in the last chorus. but it was pretty high. and you hit most of them, just missed a bit in the beginning.

guitar was spot on but it was an eazy piece.

good job overall.

thanks for you responds guys, I appreciate that.

I agree with the last chorus. I recorded this one over and over again, but as hard as I tried, I wouldn't get as I wanted it to.
That's why I think it sounds a bit strained at parts.

the vaginal fluid they are secreting is the same composition of urine minus the uric acid and phosphorous. i learned that in 11th grade anatomy. btw, sometimes it does have a FAINT smell of Pizzle.

Ok, post listening:

I think you need to work on the timing of your vocals a bit. (Unless you purposefully did it that way.) What I mean is that in the Coldplay version, he lingers a bit on the third beat of each measure. (Not sure if he always does it, but I've noticed it a lot comparitively) The first example is when you say "cut me down a tree" The tree should be just before the third beat, and then lingered a bit longer. (I don't know enough about music to explain it in any real technical way.)

Sorry if that didn't make any sense.. Great job though! It's one of my favorites from the album. Now go do "A Message". :D

That was really good Bo. Voice was a little shaky in spots but I thought it all really came together in the end.
