You people overreact like no other. Pat recognizes that Mike is a great bassist, and accordingly, gives advanced constructive criticism to improve this already good piece even more.

You complain when no one critiques, then complain when someone DOES critique. Ugh.

Thank you... Trust me, Mike knows what he's talking about, and I just wanted to give him some advice to possibly push him a bit further.

How can one know what to improve if they're told everything is perfect?

I honestly was not trying to pull you down, Mike.

No, I didn't take any offense to anything. Maybe I'm just posting my stuff at the wrong place.

It's nice and understated. I liked that you didn't launch into a "wankery fest" as you put it. It seems that (most) bass players must learn early on that less is more and I greatly appreciate that.

Wouldn't that be like going to DMBc and saying people talk about DMB way too much?

you'd need a 6 string bass and really long fingers methinks!

Pat, you don't have to defend yourself. You, of all people, have earned the right to give an honest critique of the work and that's what you did. You've got Dave's stuff down like very few do.

I've come to find that people around here are incredibly sensitive if you give even the slightest bit of constructive criticism.....it automatically gets perceived as slamming a guys recording.

Man, since I've been coming back here the past week after a year or so away, I suddenly have a new appreciation for what this place was like with the 2003 crew around here....Jason, Firedancer, TrippinHillbilly, etc. Great guitar players and very helpful to others.

What does his guitar playing have to do with my bass playing? Or what does that post have to do with this thread? No doubt he is a good musician. He just had a different idea of what he was looking for in a recording, that's all. Like I said, maybe I'm posting my stuff on the wrong forums.

I was only trying to say that because he's such a talented musician his opinions/thoughts/critiques should carry a lot of credibility. But instead, it seems he got slammed for voicing his objective critique. That's all.

i think the problem is other people saying shit about other people's critques. tictacs is the only one that should, people hear music differently and thats why critiques will vary.
