SMTS, R&R, Granny, Crash, LIOG Covers
Hey everyone, I am new here so I will give a little bio about me. Im an 18 year old male from Jersey and I have been playing guitar for about 10 months now. I have only been practicing DMB for 4 months. I stumbled across this site about 3 months ago and it helped me so much. I made some covers of a few songs so please check them out. Any kind of advice is appreciated and please be honest. The sound and video quality are terrible sorry about that but it is all I have. I know I still need years of practice for these covers to sound good but just want to know if Im on the right track.
To download these covers open up Internet Explorer and in your address bar put in this command
ftp://dmb@68.192.116.54:21
A little window will come up and it will ask for the password. The password is covers
make sure the password and login are lowercase
Im serving the covers right off of my computer
Just make a folder and drag the files into it

Very good - you're hitting the right notes, now just work on your style. In particular, the rhythm. It's easier to play with a steady rhythm, in my experience, by holding a steady cadence with your strumming hand. Even if there's a rest in the measure, keep it moving steadily. For example, SMTS, make sure it goes up and down 16 times (8 times up, 8 times down) each time you play the main riff. Even during the slide part, keep it moving. It'll feel weird at first, but once you get the hang of it your rhythm will greatly improve.

Thankyou for the review. ive been trying and practicing to keep strumming even when im not playing notes like you said. it does feel very awkward and is also very hard. after the second slide in the main riff of smts where your sliding from the 4th fret to the 6th on the g string, i stop strumming and start picking the next notes because i cant seem to mute the other strings when i strum it. but i guess with more practice that will come in time.
i would really appreciate if more people would critique this. i dont care if you say i suck just aslong as you tell me why.

I only watched the crash video right now, but the "crash into me" part seems rushed to me, try to slow it down and smooth it out. Also make sure you are playing an E major chord, idk if you were out of tune or playing it wrong, but it did not sound right. Other than that part it was not bad. You have got the verse down pat......
I'll post more when I watch more....

Thanks for catching that on the crash into me. I always thought it was Em but now I know it is Emajor.
The files arent hard to get to, if you cant do it through internet explorer then download a ftp program but then again yousendit would probably be the best way to do it because so many people are computer illiterate.

With the vast majority of people, it's not a question of computer literacy. It's the issue of laziness. People don't feel like spending time and effort trying to click through more than one link, type in passwords, download ftp programs, etc, just to hear someone they've never met play a cover. I find when I post things that if there is a direct link right there in the first post, then more people are going to listen to it.dmbS0MuchT0Say wrote:Thanks for catching that on the crash into me. I've also found with this site that the more you critique other people, the more other people will critique you. I haven't been posting in a while, and these past few days I've posted two recordings, each without a single reply, but I know it's probably because I haven't critiqued anyone in a while.
