Tim Reynolds Letting Go

Unread post by bobs14 » Thu Jun 23, 2005 5:42 am

I've been playing around with the Tim song letting go, I've never actually heard more than 30 seconds of it, so I thought I would look at the tab, get a basic idea of the melody and play with it. Any thoughts would be welcomed. Carl, you've heard this live a few times too. its at http://www.myspace.com/slippreepeatri then click the letting go, I think its #3. I can't get the link to work directly for some reason, any thoughts would be appreciated, when you listen, turn it up loud, the sample is a little low

Nice, you are very good at being very subtle in one phrase and then all badass in the next which is one of the reasons Tim is so fun to watch and listen to.

Nice clip. I'm going to listen to the other clips too.

Nice job last night btw, wish you could have been there earlier when I had my "A" game. LOL!

Going to work on words and Dave's part to Dreamed I Killed God.

Peace,

C

I have no idea what letting go actually sounds like, I came up with that from the tab, I heard like 30 seconds of a slow part I downloaded, so I guess you could say that this was my own interpretation of it. I guessed at the tempo, when to use the sample, etc. If you have it and could host it on yousendit or something that would be cool. I was just screwing around with it, didn't mean to upset anyone by not playing it how timmy plays it, after all, I don't know how he plays it.

just go to archive.org and you can download tim's shows for free. Plenty of them will have letting go.

hey, I think it sounds pretty damn cool

of course, I've never heard this song before, so it not sounding like the original doesn't affect me

I guess my advice would be to listen to the song before you try to cover it

The whole point of reynolds is not playing it the same (improv). I was not trying to cover the song, note for note or anything. I probably should have titled it "Improvisation based on Tim Reynolds Letting Go" so sorry all.

Dude, you prefaced by saying you only heard 30 seconds of this song so I think that is self-explanatory, and to me the thing with Timmy is only Tim can "play like Tim" and he's always said that he likes to improvise more than he does playing songs note by note the same way each time.

I enjoyed the clip as I do your playing in general. You have a good ear and what you did was a good cut "inspired" by a great song.

Good times!
