Mic Help

I just bought a condenser mic. In the back of my digital recorder, i only have 1/4 inputs. So I bought XLR to 1/4 cables. They wont work on my amp or digital.
Anyy suggestions?

Condensers need phantom power. What are you using to power it?

Does the recorder have phantom power? If not then you'll need to get an external power supply for it or a small mixer that has phantom power...like this one:

Some condensers, mainly small/medium diaphragm, will take batterys too so check your manual.

you should know that the power supply or microphone pre-amp affects the quality of the signal. pre-amps start at $20 and go up to over $2000 per channel. they are just as important as the quality of the microphone. i would stick to a tube preamp. the ART model is not bad for the price. you should be looking at this page:
