No Other Way - Original/updated with violin tracks!

Unread post by GreyBlueAnt » Fri Jun 10, 2005 2:27 am

Okay, this song was written about a very dear friend of mine. The recording is a first take, i'll rework it, but i wanted to get it down before i forget about (i have a bad habit of that). It also has a couple homages to Pablo Neruda and Dave in it. Hope you enjoy.

Oh, and i was playing with a little delay during the chorus. Does it work?

No Other Way

You sit and smile at me
makes me think that everything
will be all right

I can only hope you know
that the love that's hard to show
lies deep inside

I love you
cause I know no other way

We sit and tell our tales
Of the ghosts that crossed our path
how lucky we are

Dreams of you and dreams of me
dreams of times that we'll soon see
with open eyes

I love you
cause I know no other way

i really dig the vocals on this track. lyrics are great too.

only a little less reverb would be my only advice.

other than that. spectacular.

thanks. my effects mixing is always experimental, i really need to learn it a bit more because i know what i have in mind, i just can't ever quite get it there. maybe i should stop them all together.

I like the intro guitar

You have a good voice. Not much to critique. Good job.

I updated the link to the song. I have added a few violin tracks and another vocal track.

The guy that did the violin tracks can be found at http://www.danelmhorst.com.

the violin tracks are so bad ass. sooooooooooooooo bad ass. kudos times 10 for those. the guitar is good. easy but clean and i think if you turned up the delay time just a tad and then turned down the feedback just a little just a little it would be perfect. i think you missed the rhythm just a bit in one part before the second guitar part but i'm being picky cause the song was really good.

the vocals were really good. you kind of have a softer james hatfield thing going...that's not an insult persay. i agree i'd turn the reverb down a little except on the "end of time" scream. i like a lot of reverb on louder notes, i think it sounds good.

great job man.

It's solid, I like your voice, I like the guitar, I love the violin. I just feel like theres going to be a really catchy chorus, but it never comes.

I heard this with the violin is sweeet. the chick sounds really good to. I thought the quality is really nice on this one, a little omnious and dark, but neat.

I would be interested in hearing it a little lower if possible. the energy coming from your diaphram (sp) rather than your chest up. really nice. look forward to more.

The violin tracks were great, the girl voice was excellent too. Maybe use a higher tempo? It would make it a little more catchy as taylorsbaby was saying it was lacking
