"Sorry So Sorry" Cover (Howie Day)

Unread post by GreedylilPig » Fri Apr 15, 2005 10:57 pm

Hey, guys. It's been a long time since I've posted (about 6 or 7 months, I think). I've been extremely busy with work, which is going fairly well. I don't want to make this a personal update thread, so I'll spare you the details of my life for the past half-year.

Anyway, I took today off and decided I'd bust out my old recording equipment. I decided to cover Howie Day's "Sorry So Sorry." I ad-libbed a bit towards the end (not much), as I've noticed Howie does as well when performing live. I hope you like it. As always, all comments/critiques are appreciated.

nice cover dude...i liked how you slowed it down a bit...though, did you purposely not use the palm mutes that are in the original?

Thanks. Yeah, I think I muted once (maybe not), but I prefer to just let the strumming flow.

hey, was good shit regardlesss....i have to say though, you should have hit the long note when he sings "making phones that hard to holdddddddd", while adding in the percussion on the guitar..something to think about i guess...but like i said though, its your cover, and it was good regardless

I listened to both the recordings you posted tonight and both were great as usual bro. You're a great singer and I wish I could have that nice mellow voice like yours. Good job man, keep up the good work.

Excellent cover Brian...
Voice sounds great on this. The only thing that I can critique is that your low E sounds a little flat, but I could be wrong.

The reverb on the vocals sounds really good. Nice job.

Great covers....both of them. Would you mind divulging your Cool Edit Pro secrets...or more specifically, which reverb you use?

Thanks a lot for the comments, everyone.

I actually don't have Cool Edit. I have Sony Acid Pro 4.0. For this track the reverb settings are: Warm Space, 0.0 Dry Out, -26.5db Reverb Out, -20db Early In, Reflection Style: 16ms.

Wait.....there are other programs besides CEP? :) Thanks for the specs though. I'll have to see if they translate to CEP.
