holy crap guys.
...and we're all thirsty
like drunks on Sunday
brooding like the blades of a fan on low speed
or a writer with only one good line.

Oh well... my system is nearing completion, so we'll have it for the next go-round, and it uses a much better system... more details coming soon.

Wow, thanks so much! It's truly an honor to me that one the best musicians on this board is giving me his vote! It's amazing to me how many compliments I've received for my singing on this song - I never thought that I had a good voice or anything. But I can say that for this song, I sang my heart out because I love it so much :D

So I've listened to everyone's covers, and I think everyone wants to hear a little bit about their own cover, so here goes...

fatjack - Beautiful arrangement, the bass and multiple tracks with voice is really nice! If I understand correctly, this is your band playing? If so, you guys sound great!

trippin' hillbilly - Very cool twist on the intro! You have a good voice too, sounds strangely similar to firedancer's. Very cool 2nd guitar track, and the 1st guitar track is impeccable (Dave would be proud!). There are some parts where the timing is off a bit on the singing, but I really really loved the Elvis part at the end! Great job, man.

mbgreen - Your guitar playing is right on the money, and I like that you didn't modify it with any effects - just pure raw acoustic guitar the way I like it :) The 2nd guitar part can use some work, but all in all, great job!

lou stone - Just to be purely constructive, your guitar playing is off a little bit - you're missing a specific note at the end of the main riff. Basically, it sounds pretty much how I sounded when I started playing the song - it's just testament to the fact that this song is so damn hard to play! Anyway, you're very close to getting it right, so don't stop! A little more practice and it will be perfect!

Geekmug - First of all, let me just say that I was really impressed! Beautiful sound, great mixing in of the bass, drums and 2nd guitar. Some constructive criticism - it seems like your not striking the 4th note in the main riff twice like Dave does, but this hardly matters. Also, the 2nd guitar part is very well played, but I find that it changes the sound of the song a bit too much. However, the guitar solo at the end is awesome! You've got some real talent, my friend.

moffat - The guitar playing is just a little fast, but apart from that, it's perfect as far as I'm concerned! Keep it up, man.

Adam Weiss - You're very talented, Adam. I really like your guitar playing, and you have a cool voice. Sometimes, the timing of your singing is off slightly, but it's not that obvious - only psycho DMB fans who've listened to the same track too many times would notice  Another comment on your singing - you do have a good voice, but it sounds like your constraining it to your throat a little at times. I'm not really an expert, but I'll tell you what many people have told me: try to imagine your voice coming from your stomach rather than from your throat - for me, this seems to open up my voice a lot more. Anyway, please don't take this the wrong way, like I said, you are very talented!

Billy Westom I'm sure this is no surprise to you, but your voice is a little low for this song; however, your guitar playing is really great, and I very much enjoyed the 2nd guitar track! Nice cover, man.

firedancer And so I saved the best for last! I've decided to vote for you, firedancer, because I just simply love the way you play this song! The guitar sounds amazing - in fact, it sounds a lot like the way Dave plays it on the original RCA recording, but there's still something very unique about your style. Your voice is also dead-on - you didn't miss any of the notes and my girlfriend also agreed that you'd be someone we'd love to listen to in person at a local bar or something (we love doing that). So congrats, man!

Everyone, I just want to say that you're all talented, and I loved listening to everyone's version of this wicked song! Please don't take any of my critcism too much to heart, I really don't think I'm better than anyone - just trying to be constructive as I would like everyone to be with me :D

So once again, my vote goes to: firedancer.

Peace everyone!

Daroou
