Recently (Dave & Tim) cover

Unread post by firedancer86 » Sat Apr 12, 2003 10:26 pm

Well here is one of the MP3's I promised long ago...thanks to Billy it is up and ready :D ...the vocals are weak and the guitar (twelve string Tim) is hard to get the levels right with, so you can only hear half of the note :(

Anywho...please leave a message at the beap!

phenomenal stuff fire. really really good. your voice sounds really great on this one. congrats.

*nitpick warning* i know you want me to be picky so here it is. during the second verse, and then in different parts of different choruses, your voice slips EVER SO SLIGHTLY out of tune. it's pretty minute, and most people won't be able to hear it, but it's there. you usually slide around the pitches a little, so that at some point you do hit the center of the note, but you usually end up resting on the flat side of it. you're hitting the right notes, you're not even a quarter tone off... how do i explain this?...

ok i got it. think of each note as a little box, each note stacked on top of each other in order so as to yeild a very tall stack of tiny little boxes of notes. when you sing, you are in the right little note boxes, but within those little boxes, there's a little space. you can either be up at the top of the box, right in the middle of it, or down at the bottom. if the middle of the box is perfectly in tune, then in the parts that i mention, you're resting slightly under that. again, like i said earlier, this is something most people won't hear and it's nothing to get discouraged about. this was one hell of a cover. i'm pretty sure that if you listen you can hear what i'm talking about, and if you can hear it, you can fix it. as you get a little older, you'll also find it easier to sing perfectly in tune all the time as your voice matures.

phenomenal work. i hope that you don't just hear the negatives in this post, because as i said, i am being very nitpicky in this, but i think you want that level of criticism.

Alright Tico...thanks for the help, and I do believe you hit it right on...that is me falling on a flat...I have known this for a while and completely understand what you are saying...but I do appreciate you nitpicking...nice to hear some constructive critisism... :)

P.S. My favorite part of this is the "now looking foreward to too much more" (or whatever he says lol) Tim fills over top :D Fun song...keeps the fingers moving good...thanks again guys

Fucking beautiful. There are covers and then there are covers. Could you possibly sound any better? :?: Every single person who listens to this post better take 1 minute to post a review/praise. A cover this good - as well as your unmatched Minarets cover from months back - deserves all the props it can get.......99% of the people that visit these boards could only wish they sounded this good. Fanstastic work Fire! :D

Geez...thanks mike

I don't need any praise though...i will be gracious as can be, but i don't need praise...the only praise that should be given is to the ONE who gave me any talent i have (at the risk of being called religious freak or whatever)...that of course is Jesus

but I do appreciate the response buddy :)
