I'm not a rude person normally, but I feel like someone has to say that you ARE icing on the cake. I think that's why it seems like you need to get your knowledge of audio engeneering out to the local board public. I mean, I don't think the "icing" comment was directed to you personally, but without the creators of the music, audio engeneering would be pretty pointless if you worked 30 hours straight. I mean, going along with the whole cake analogy, maybe bands like DMB get alot of help from the aud guys and all the crew, but I've had a hell of a time chilling with friends playing guitar and jamming all night long and I can tell you right now that there wasn't a guy standing behind everyone messing around with knobs and contemplating physics and all that stuff I really don't care about, but will pay someone like you to do for the icing. That's about all I have to say about that...peace to all the scientists, but I'm an artist and the cake, and personally, I never really liked icing anyway...

P.S.-Good luck with the 'Most Posts in One Day' record and the 'Most Consecutive Posts with No One Else Around' record...
good luck with the "Biggest Jerkoff By Making One Post" record

all that did was make you seem pompous and arrogant

I thought the cake analogy was perfect! The cake is awesome, but frosting just makes it all complete. With that said, frosting is not a put down, but it is what it is. I sorta felt like cheers was coming off a bit, i know everything in the world so back off biaatch, and he is only 19.....that is barely out of the womb. Also, here are a couple boards you guys can check out, or just search for home set ups, home recording, and believe me, you will get more than enough information for our low budget purposes, beyond that, you hire someone else to put the frosting on!

I'd tell you all again to shut the fuck up but it's clear he's not coming back.
Oh and I hate to mention this but wasn't bluewaters putting "Awesome" in the thread title for his cover. That seems a bit arrogant too. Just use your head a bit more when posting negative shit.

Thanks, that really wasn't what I was going for, but I guess you have to fight fire with fire, you know. I mean Cheers sounded pompous and arrogant, and in my annoyed late night state I did the same, and then to keep it going, you used my 'good luck with the "what I don't like about you" record'.

So I guess you get the "Mind Your Own Business" Award and 2nd place in the "Fight Fire with Fire" category.

'What did the five fingers say to the face...SLAP!'

P.S.-I was going to just submit that, but this can go on forever...Cheers just talks like he's hot shit, that's my bottom line, and it's just irritating. If I'm the only one who noticed that I'll kindly take the "Shut the Fuck Up" Award, but I just thought it was obvious that he's a teeny-bop trying to show off...there's no need for that...peace

P.P.S.-I really don't like icing on cake, it's gross...that wasn't just some clever conclusion.
i didn't feel like he was trying to show off at all, it seems to me like you lashed out at him because you felt inferior and you had to make it seem like you were some "musician's musician" who is at the height of his artistic creativity. THAT seemed like YOU were trying to show off

I do not feel inferior...why would I have any reason to be? That makes no sense...
Like longlegged said, frosting is not a put down.

you're the one who got the impression he was showing off so you shouldn't be asking him why you would feel inferior

Apparently some tempers have been stirred up with this little discussion. I'm not sure why, but from what I see, Geekmug was the first one to call it Icing!!!!!!! Then Cheers got all pissy and started saying that his 30 hours, (not even a full week of work) and hard work was worth more than icing. Blue made a comment and it just tumbled from there. This is my take on it all, and my opinion.

First of all, Cheers should not have disappeared, he should have simply said that I don't like the icing reference. Unfortunately, it was a good metaphor taken the Wrong Way! And when someone gets STAND OFF-ISH (as Cheers did), it is not taken well, not seen as well, and not responded too as WELL. It is seen as immature (need I refer to age), it is seen as childish (again refer to previous parenthesis), and then as you look at the overly "I know what I am talking about" quotes posted by cheers you get a little suspect...and the precipitator of that suspicion is his inability to take criticism. A person who is secure and confident in his ability (especially when facing criticism) comes off as secure and confident, not combatitive. All of us know that criticism is the basis of this board. Look at the Title! (Recording & Critiquing) FatJack, is a big critic (I mean that in the best possible way) he says what he thinks, likes what he likes and that is it. To see you guys pining over Cheers, whom we know nothing about, is borderline pathetic.

In closing......I have annoyed a lot of people in my life (no need to comment on) and I have been really immature (and still am from time to time......no need to comment on), but I at least show up, I don't disappear, and I certainly wouldn't say anything like oooooooh, you'll scare him off, or stop it, don't be mean!!!!!

This is the Recording and Critiquing board, and by God, I will record and Critique!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm not trying to piss people off, but I'm entitled to my opinion for many points that longlegged talked about...

To Macht, just because I have an impression about someone doesn't directly assume that I'm feeling inferior to him. That's, as longlegged spoke of, an immature standpoint. I'm not going to bullshit about stupid shit, I made my point, maybe I was a little drunk or whatever and went a little too far. I'm not trying to scare anyone away, I'm just stating my opinion. I still would like to hear FatJack's explaination of why I feel inferior, because I'm lost there. This is stupid shit, someone can just erase all this shit cause theres no point...

Longlegged, you could be a great mediator and you brought a valid outside opinion. In fact, Im erasing all my comments before this, you can read it in my quotes anyway. Anyone else that wants to square this away can do the same if they wish...peace

I think he was trying to show off too. The first thing he said was "look at all the cool shit I have," and the conversation you had with him about recording equipment quickly showed to me that he was not as qualified as he announced himself to be. But, being somewhat knowledgable myself I opted for debating with him.. All he did was make things sound more complicated than they really are.. and whether or not he is a musician I don't know, but you have never heard a mix from him, so you don't even know how good of results he gets to wanna follow in his footsteps. At least I have posted some shit that shows I have some relative competance in the matter.

Oh, and I like icing

Sorry...sorry. I never wanted this post to turn into a fighting fest... I just wanted to help people and talk to people thats all. I know I got all pissy but I had just come off a 25 hour shift. In Audio Engineering world we work crazy hours. I don't remember who it was but I read someones reply and it said "only 30 hours a week"... not a week but one shift... we work from 50-140 hours A WEEK! Last week we had Seven SHOWS... and are biggest were Kenny Loggins, John Waite, Great White (80's bads Rock)... and the Russian National Orc. But, I never meant for people to get pissed off, Im just sharing with you what I know first hand about the industry. It is really HARD HARD HARD work but VERY VERY fun! Kenny Loggins was a great show... one of those shows that reminds me why I do this!! But sorry to everyone... and I would still love to have some studio talk with everyone!
