About your song, it's not a very complicated one or upbeat at this point at least. Sounds good, but my advice would be that the lyrics really carry the song. If you think of all the meaningful simpler songs you've ever heard, the lyrics usually rock. On that note, a creative vocal support would also help, but probably not as necessary as the lyrics being good. Definitely could be awesome...good luck

I'd argue that it's not the words as much as it is the melody.
I mean for fuck's sake, "Hold My Hand" was a great song because of the catchy melody but the lyrics were just wetahded

That is an awesome song, but the melody in the vocals is what makes the song. You're right about melody, but the word are what define the song.
