Dave Matthews Cover...Need Advice

Unread post by DonkeyDooder1 » Wed Feb 25, 2004 11:22 pm

Hey, this is my embarrassing Stone cover...revisited...I want advice more on my singing, not on my guitar playing or rhythmic errors...I don’t really know how to sing and need some instruction from someone...

I bounce around on the lyrics, and it's not the whole song...but...any advice would be helpful, thanks for the time amigos...here it is...

It won't play for me. As for advice, I think being comfortable with hearing your voice is the hardest hang up to get over so that's probably the first step you have to complete.

Ok I listened to it, we just need to hear your voice more. Bring out the natural tone, turn up the volume, and don't be so breathy and it will be much improved. Btw you built that up to be horrible, wasn't bad at all :)

Yeah man that sounded pretty good, I heard your voice shake in some parts, I think you just gotta hit those notes with confidence and breathe right - but trust me I'm no expert :D rock on man

Hey wow, thanks for all the input. You guys are awesome. I posted another attempted Matthews cover, sorry about the low quality. When The World Ends, I know I mess up in the chorus a couple times, but I am too impatient right now for redo's...and even more advice would be helpful....and does anyone know a website that gives you a better description on how to sing, and breathing techniques, or am I thinking about this too much? and should just try to do what comes naturally?thanks

oh yeah, and here's my new site, I keep violating angelfire's terms of service...

As for the Matthews cover, it's kind of like my "Why Did You Mess With Forever" cover. The rhythm of the guitar is off which is throwing your vocals into inconsistency.

Yeah generally if your guitar rhythm is off your voice either slows down or catches up too it, this then throws it off key. So it all comes down to nailing the songs musically. Btw Mave, your enthusiam for learning Dave Matthews songs has got me to actually work on a couple of them :) I just started learning the poppy standards "So Much to Say" and beginning to learn the rhythm more than anything for "Crash into me" I get lost on SMTS because when you play the actual DMB song it's hard to keep place when all the loud instruments come in. Doh. Are you going to be doing a version of SMTS Mave? I'd love to hear it, nobody seems to cover that song and it's one of his best and most popular.

site is down, a little advice is to NOT say Dave Matthews in the title, or "cover" Angelfire might think you are posting copyrighted material
