What do you drink when you perform live?

Here is what my daughter's voice teacher says to her (and she has very high credentials):

Alcohol, caffine (and this includes tea) and soda are out...all the time.

The water you drink during the show or even several hours before the show do nothing to hydrate your vocal chords...it may help your throat, but it will not improve the performance of your vocal chords.

Drinking plenty of water all the time....that is what hydrates your vocal chords and improves the performance.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong...nor am I telling anyone not to drink any of the above beverages :wink: ...I'm just passing on what she said.

herbal tea is ok tho...no caffeine just herbs :D

I think it's a win win situation if you go with water, or gatorade. Gatorade on stage works good for me.
