Removing Vocals from an mp3 file
Removing Vocals from an mp3 file
Anyone know how this can be done? I have an mp3 that was recorded on a very basic 4 track that I need to remove the vocals from.

There are two main ways, the first is easy and just involves experimenting with EQ'ing the center frequencies out. The frequencies will be different for every voice, but almost always somewhere near the center. However, it doesn't work very well and you'll lose quite a bit of instrumentation. The other way is more complicated and is described here. Adobe Audition has a Vocal Cut filter that performs this built-in, if you have it.

if you have audacity, go to help, and it tells you how to do it there (using the same program).

No matter what you do, the result is not going to be stellar.
