Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": The food court is downstairs. The cookie stand is upstairs. It's not like we're talking quantum physics here.

I was looking around on Craigslist and the internet, looks like voice lessons around here are about $20.00 a 1/2 hour. I think Im gonna go to a few, I sound completely awful. Ive recorded myself and I can hear myself, god awful. My Uncle is a musician that plays out in my home town quite a bit and sometimes my mom joins, they can both sing very well and I sound like a bag of ass, Im hoping deep down I have a voice and I just dont know "how" to sing.

Does that price seem reasonable, anything I should know going into it, advice/suggestions, how many should I take to get a good idea, I cant afford to go a ton?

Thanks!

Find a reputable teacher, interview them before you give them a dime. Block off time to practice whatever they teach you and it should not take that long to get to a point where you don't sound aweful (not annoying). After that, its up to you how far you want to take it. Oh, buy a keyboard if you don't have one.
