You wouldn't put a / in there. It actually is more accurate to call it Am7sus4. Here's a couple ways to play it:jjcucio wrote:Ok, what is the tab for Am7/sus4. I am just starting out and cant find it. Thanks.
Code: Select all
e-0--5--10--
b-3--5--8---
g-0--7--9---
d-2--5--7---
a-0--7------
e----5------
Minor chords are the 1-3-5 of the minor scale. In the case of A minor it is A-C-E. The 7 adds the 7 note of the scale to the chord, in this case G. So now we have A-C-E-G. The sus4 means that the 4th note of the scale suspends the 3rd, meaning play the 4th note of the scale instead of the 3rd note of the scale. So in A minor you replace the C with D. So now we have a chord made up of A-D-E-G. So any way that you can get your fingers to play all A's, D's, E's, and G's then you have formed an Am7sus4 chord.

Either way, they're the same chord. The "sus4" means the chord is made up of 1-4-5-7 (no 3rd). If the chord was Am7add4 then it would be 1-3-4-5-7, but that would actually be called Am11, not Am7add4.Duffman wrote:these are a7sus4, not am7sus4. if you did x0t98t, it would work. in truth, their is no such thing as a "m7sus4" chord. its just "7sus4" because their is no major or minor tonality. i have never seen it written with the minorwinglet82 wrote:Either way, they're the same chord. and that actually would be an Am7add4 because their is no 9th in the formula, technically you have to add a 9 in the chord for a 11th or 13th chord to be made. so it would be 1 2 3 4 5 7 for an 11 chord and 1 2 3 5 6 7 for a 13th
