Which Takamine?
I'm gonna go try out some Takamine's at my local dealer. Which models should I concentrate on? I'm looking to keep my purchase under $800 and it doesn't matter if it's acoustic or acoustic/electric.

Takamines are a little odd, Ive played alot of them and I cant really notice a difference in sound quality from the 600 dollar ones to the 2000 dollar ones. I talked to a guitar tech and he said it was because of the laquer they use to finish the guitars. Apparently, it doesnt let the wood do its thing, no matter if its regular spruce and mahogany or englemann spruce and roseswood. I would recomend the ibanez aw100 for a really good midrange acoustic/electric.

ean40c, i think they are around 800...i have one and couldnt be happier with it and my martin d-35. i use it mostly for howie day type stuff but it has an excellent acoutic sound through an amp and if you a finger-style or a chord type player than its for you, but dave stuff doesnt sound the best with it. but its definitly one of the easiest guitars to play imo...hope that helps peace

I really like Takamines, but personally I don't like the G-series guitars. I think that they're cheap, they don't play very well, and they don't sound very good. If anyone has one, I'm sorry, that's just my opinion. I have been playing solely on my Takamine (EAN16C) for almost 2 and a half years, and I LOVE it. It sounds really good both plugged in and acoustic, and it plays incredible. You can see a pic here:

I have thorougly enjoyed this guitar and it can be had for a really good price if you look.

that looks pretty nice there... I have never been a fan of the Mahogany top D-15's, but this sitka spruce one looks real nice.
