Best guitarist thread

Unread post by sineyug » Tue Jan 06, 2004 11:28 pm

Being a phishead and obsessed with dave i am torn between:
Timmy and Trey
~ as in who be da better guitarist

I dont know how many post were written about rolling stones top 100 guitarist (on a quick search i found none) but timmy wasnt even in there and trey was like 70's. [so we can conclude from this that rolling stone doesnt know what the fuck they are talking about (jack white was like in the teens?!?!?)]

opinions? comments?

I dont know, they seem to play different styles which can make it harder, but how the hell did Jack White get that high?

probably because Joan Jett was rated higher than David Gilmour

it was actually a list of the most IMPORTANT guitarists, not best. so i guess i dealt more with the influence they had on their particulat genre

Even if it was based more on important than best, how the hell did Jack White get in the teens? Hes not that important or good, and theyre stuff is so new, I cant believe they put him that high, course I dont really read into or give a shit what rolling stone says, but still.

they are both amazing. i'd venture to say tim is better. but they actually do play a lot of the same genre. tim's played in every genre you can imagine, and if you've ever seen phish you know they have more influences in what they do than anyone.

i think that trey's taste is much more main stream than tim's "favorite" type of music. and on that, i'd say trey, cuz he can play a more universal language.

oh it's just not fair to compare. once you get into the top ten, it's just too hard to call.
