how to fix broken tuning knob

Unread post by lessthandmb » Sun Jan 04, 2004 11:13 am

After missing the guitar stand completely while trying to put my guitar down, I watched my guitar slam the concrete floor. The tuner for the D string broke off, but i do I have all the pieces- the little black and white washers and everything. How do I go about fixing this? I have a picture of it herehttp://njac.homestead.com/main.html

that sucks. ummm... I don't know if you can repair that part but you can probably buy an individual tuner and replace just that knob. maybe someone else here has had that problem too...

You proceed to cry and then go down to your guitar store and buy a new tuning machine and just pop the old one out, put the new in..

What am i "popping out"? theres half a piece that is still in the opening that broke in half. Should i try to get that out and then buy another knob with the screws and everything?

you would but a new tuner mechanisim. the tuner itself goes through the headstock and there is a bolt on the other side which is against the headstock. the underside of the tuner should have a screw you can remove to take out the tuner. Sorry if this didnt help. if you want, tell me and I will post pictures as a tutorial or whatever :)
