does anyone use a pick for this song? or just finger pick? it seems hard both ways. any other suggestions to learning this song would be awesome. thanks.

This is def. a fingerpicking tune (as are most Tim songs). As far as how to play it: practice, practice. The only advice I can give is to practice the hand positions without actually playing anything. The main verse jumps between the C-shaped position (notice I said "shape") and the F. You have to be comfortable making this change before adding the complexity of playing notes. Concentrate on getting that "bounce" going too.
