John Mayer Allstate Arena IL

Unread post by quarterlfecrisis » Thu Dec 04, 2003 4:26 pm

Ok so I went to the John Mayer Concert at the allstate in rosemont IL last weekend. Like many I decided it would be a great idea to pre-game at the g/f's house soo we started out with some pinot grigio (sp.) then the good stuff ABSINTHE. for those of you that don't know its a french hooche 136 proof for that matter ( the stuff van gough drank when he cut off his ear) Needless to say we were feeling really good by the time our d/d got us to the car well Absinthe can give ya an open mindedness almost a narcotic type effect due to the wormswood that is added. Anywho, I was standing there at the concert listening to John play and 2 things came to mind
#1 I wish I was at a dave show I mean i like John's music but he just doesnt entertain like dave does plus John's band doesnt have the fatness of DMB Johns horn section blows IMO The drummer is ok but doesnt even hold a light to carter ok enough of that rant

#2 one of the songs john played was No Such Thing which I've heard and attempted to play a thousand times, but this time maybe in my mind altered state all i heard was the theme to ESPN sportscenter Then He played Come Back To Bed good song right? well my g/f being a huge John fan almost threw me from the balcony when i started singing strawberry wine in a sarcasic tone I'm like this guy is a thief
nevertheless I composed myself so she could enjoy the show and so i didnt leave in an ambulance after John Mayer groupies pumble me to death with their white ballcaps

anywho I still enjoy listening to John but the striking similarities of those two songs as explained above always make me kinda roll my eyes

anyone think the same thing listen to the songs and think about it
