i've been trying to write my own music and i keep coming across A chords - and suggestions for a richer, better sound than the normal X02220?

Capo 2, play G and its a cool A.

Also you can add the C# bass note to A for a sightly different sound. I like it.

yeah... C# is the 3 so it would work well. all you really need is A C# E so just search around some.

I also play it like 977600 to get those cool, dancing nancies style open notes.

We were just thinking of ways to give it a rounder or varied sound. Adding a C# bass note is a good way to do that.

and D shapes like a great high A is x-0-x-9-10-9 and his close cousin x-0-7-9-10-(0 or 9 or 12).

and the inversions 9-0-7-9-10-0 etc.
